There are some new developments to report today in the Whole Foods boycott and some photos. The Boycott Whole Foods Facebook page has been adding thousands of new members every day since last week and you can help push it over a major milestone.
The purpose, to reiterate, is a show of support for real health care reform and to oppose the Whole Foods CEO who wrote an editorial favoring pretty much the opposite of what we'd like to see in health care policy.
Here are the newest developments: 1) a demonstration at Whole Foods headquarters in Austin today. A couple dozen sign-carrying demonstrators came out to agitate for the cause, bringing the boycott right to corporate headquarters. Some local media coverage will likely result.
2) The other new development concerns the boycott Facebook page which is nearing 10,000 members. It needs just over 500 more members to hit that milestone. Here is a link to it, please help spead the word and get it over the mark. Tomorrow could be a pivotal day. It may be the day Wall Street traders really notice the story. Two publications, the Motley Fool and The Business Insider, ran stories late Friday and this weekend respectively. They took a mostly pro-business stance, not surprisingly, but it served to bring the controversy to investors attention. Fox News was the latest national media outlet to run a story.
If you attended the demonstration in Austin please add your observations in comments and I'll update accordingly.

Honk Twice for Health Care Reform (6+ / 0-)
is what's written on some of the yellow signs. There were half again as many teabaggers ther than us, but the Honk Twice signs worked and we got 3:1 positive response from drivers passing by. Horn taps were positive, middle fingers were negative.
When the baggers drifted over to the corner we were demonstrating on (their initial coordination sucked) some folks got confused as to who was protesting what? They, of course, couldn't stop themselves from crowding and standing in front of us, rather then doing their own thing.
102-104F though, and the heat just about sapped us. But we outlasted the newly minted latte drinking, teabag wearing, organic shopping Conservatives who had rarely ever visited a Whole Foods before.
All of us demonstrating for HCR are Whole Foods were long time customers saddened by the stance that Mackey is taking in this battle.
