After the recent revelation that we have a fake progressive state blogger in our midst, Nebraska's Kyle Michaelis, I thought I would do some more digging to uncover this faker.
Shocking results below the fold...
Here's Faker Michaelis calling out Sen. Nelson for contemplating voting against Sotomayor:
I don't know what more convincing Nelson could possibly want. Sotomayor has more experience as a federal judge than any other Supreme Court nominee in a century. Despite that long record on the bench, Republicans in the Senate found nothing at all by which they could characterize Sotomayor as outside the judicial mainstream - even after scouring her every decision and mincing her every word.
...Yet, Nelson needs more convincing. He claims he needs more time "to review a few things." Now, normally, I don't take issue with Nelson's deliberate approach. But, it's troubling that Nelson appears to be holding Sotomayor to a higher standard than the two previous Supreme Court Justices he voted to confirm - John Roberts and Samuel Alito, both of whom were nominated by Republican President George W. Bush.
Here's Kyle faking his interest in health care reform:
Like their party leaders, Nebraska's Republican Congressmen continue to offer no real solutions - nor even constructive debate - on fixing our country's growing health care crisis. Sadly, we can almost be certain they will vote the party line and oppose whatever plan is ultimately put forward by the Democratic majority.
But, this isn't about politics. This is about people - real people who can no longer afford the crushing costs of a broken health care system and may already be unable to provide health insurance for their families. It's these people who are at the heart of House Democrats' reform efforts as their health care legislation - H.R. 3200, America's Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009 - continues its long march to a floor vote.
Here's his fake progressive support for gay rights:
Most disgusting about this issue - and most telling - is what it says about Schaefer and Heineman's priorities. Here they are actually fighting to create a right to discriminate against gay Nebraskans - in complete violation of professional ethics, without any precedent. This is at the same time that patient after patient after patient (8 so far) has died after Schaefer's January order that the medically-fragile be removed from the troubled Beatrice State Development Center.
Of course, the true test of a party hack fake progressive would be to see that he would never go after members of his own party:
Once again, that's our own Sen. Nelson leading the way in opposing President Barack Obama's agenda and undermining his fellow Democrats' efforts to achieve fundamental reform.
While repeating his nonsense about Nebraskans thinking one day we're all going to be rich, Nelson now adds a bit of folksy conservative spin that voters think "Tax is a four-letter word." Sadly, he doesn't seem nearly as concerned with other "four-letter words" like bankruptcy, pre-existing conditions, and denial of care - all with which the American people have become intimately and increasingly familiar for our failure to reform the health care system. For a sense of the truly obscene, Nelson would also do well to remember the "four-letter word" that is 47 million uninsured.
At this point, it's perfectly understandable that Nelson should have questions and concerns about the sweeping legislation that is being discussed. But, rather than working constructively for the best possible health care proposal, Nelson's instead emerging as the leading defender of the status quo, doing more damage than any Republican as he promotes the idea that Democrats in Congress are fractured and in disarray.
But heck, don't take my word for it. Find your own shocking revelations of Kyle Michaelis' fakeness.
