So a new Quinnipiac poll finds Obama's job approval has slipped to 50% vs 42% who disapprove, with approval of his handling of health care at only 39% vs 52% who disapprove.
But what does that disapproval on health care mean? I mean, I disapprove of his handling of health care reform because I don't think he's been strong enough, hasn't provided real leadership by putting out a reasonable marker and fighting for it. So does that kind of disapproval factor into the Quinnipiac poll? I don't disapprove of his pushing health care reform, just how he's doing it.
I disapprove of President Obama's handling of health care reform because I'm afraid it will lead to a watered down bill, anything he can call health care reform. I believe that if he mobilized voters behind a strong bill, maybe even single-payer, many would take to the streets for it. I would. If he would really take on the entrenched interests, if he talked about murder by spreadsheet, about health care-induced bankruptcies, about the real evils of the insurance-company-dominated system -- that is, if he acted like a real leader -- we'd get something meaningful.
