By all appearances, a routine week. Twenty-four suspensions in the House and two bills to move under regular order. Appropriations once again underway in the Senate. But looming in the background is tomorrow's (supposed) "deadline" for the foot-dragging Finance Committee to report it's health care bill out, and the fact that there are just ten voting days left in the Senate before the end of Fiscal Year 2009, with eight bills still not yet passed, much less settled in conference. Oh, and the October 15th deadline for reconciliation, in case Finance drops the ball again.
Not currently on the schedule for the week, a censure resolution for Rep. Addison Graves Wilson, Sr. (R-SC-02), aka Joe "You Lie" Wilson. There's been lots of talk about whether or not such a resolution would be brought, and whether it's better to "just get past it" or whether the Rules of the House demand enforcement. For more on the rules and the politics of censure, see here, here and here.
