I know, seeking objectivity at FOX News is like finding a Jewish pig farmer, it isn't going to happen. But after their "analyst" fiasco with
C. Boyden Gray that our friends at Media Matters exposed, one would think that they would be a tad more careful in selecting future personnel.
Fox News announced their new White House "reporter" Greg Kelly the other day. Now the problem is not that Kelly is the son of the current New York Police Commissioner. It is that he is Major Greg Kelly of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves. Posing the question - "Can someone in the military objectively cover his Commander-in-Chief?"
Kelly is a Marine pilot. In his nine years with the Marines on active duty, he flew up to 158 aircraft carrier landings and even flew over missions over Iraq enforcing the "No Fly Zone" prior to the current war.
Kelly was an embedded reporter during the first months of the war. That makes sense - former (current?) soldier covering combat, but it seems to be a huge conflict of interest for a White House Beat.
How can Kelly report objectively cover a man that could directly effect if this man is called back up to active duty? Would Kelly have to salute the President during press conferences? (I think many at FOX already do)
I have contact Media Matters on this, hopefully they can repeat the success of the Gray hypocrisy.
