I just wanted to stop by and say thank you to the Daily Kos community for helping out during our end-of-quarter fundraising drive.
With your help, we smashed through our $100,000 goal for the Conway Fight Fund, beating what we think Sarah Palin raised for Rand Paul on a recent trip to Louisville.
With polls continuing to show this race is up for grabs, and with our opponent—supposedly a tea partier—getting bailed out by national Republicans like Karl Rove, Sarah Palin, and Michele Bachmann, every penny in the Fight Fund is going to be critical.
By the way, we could see some sparks fly this Sunday at 9:00 a.m. EDT, when Rand Paul and I will be holding a nationally televised debate. He ducked my challenge to debate on Meet the Press, so our only national debate will be on Fox News.
But I'm all set to go right in there and hold his feet to the fire, and we received a lot of great suggestions from members of the Daily Kos community the other day for what I should ask him.
Since I'll be in the TV studio, I can't do a diary for live discussion, but please go to my Facebook page, click the "Like" button, and watch the live updates and join in discussions with fellow supporters, beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday.
I hope you will all tune in to hear Rand weave and dodge on his comments that drug abuse is "not a pressing issue" in Eastern Kentucky, his belief that we should get rid of safety protections for miners, and his opposition to the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Finally, the voters of Kentucky are learning about how out of touch Rand is every day from people like you, members of the Daily Kos community and volunteers from MoveOn.org who canvassed door-to-door this week to talk to voters across Kentucky.
I’d also like to give a special thanks to all the members of Democracy for America and PCCC for taking hours over the weekend to make calls to voters of Kentucky, in the "phone bomb" that these progressive groups organized. Your support is truly making a difference, as we are now in a dead heat in the polls, despite seeing over $1.7 million spent against us by outside corporate funded groups such as George W. Bush strategist Karl Rove’s American Crossroads, the NRSC, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
