That's right in this last week before the elections I am not sitting in front of my computer but going out speaking to people in my neighborhood. Last night I went to a Turkey Dinner that is a fundraiser for a local museum and all the local politicians as well as those running for office serve the dinner. I'm also inviting a group over for dinner to discuss politics Republican, Democrats, Independents and a couple more are in the mix. I have found there's nothing more effective than up close and personal to change minds. It's not the same as the anonymous computer screen.
Last night I was able to speak with Mr. Rooney who is trying to unseat Cahill in the 101st Assembly District in NY. Mr Rooney claims to be a successful business man, he owns a buffalo farm, and can solve Ulster County's problems by cutting taxes. Sounds awfully familiar doesn't it! So I asked him to name just one area he would cut taxes in or one thing he would do to get new business into Ulster County. He couldn't think of anything but just said it's hard to know until you get in the office. So here's a Republican campaigning on how he is going to help the people in Ulster County but hasn't a clue about how to do it yet he thinks he should be elected. One would think a successful business person might have some kind of plan in mind. Chris Wallace of Fox got the same answer from Engle whose running against Reid in Nevada. O'Donnell in Delaware is the same story.
In this last week have dinner with friends and family you're not going to change any minds typing on a computer to people who are already voting for your team. The Internet does have it's place but face to face with real people is what's needed now. Just try to change one vote in this last week.
My Prediction:
Democrats keep the House and Senate!
