Bill Clinton is asking Alaska Dems to come home, to cast their vote for the actual Democrat, Scott McAdams.
A McAdams campaign spokesman said Clinton's camp first reached out earlier this week about the possibility of a weekend call. "We're really excited he was watching our race," said spokeswoman Heather Handyside.
In the 30-second message, Clinton delivers a standard generic theme that touts McAdams's record as a small-town mayor.
"This is President Bill Clinton. I'm calling to urge you to get out and vote for Scott McAdams for the U.S. Senate on Tuesday, Nov. 2. Recent polls show Scott gaining ground quickly, and he'll win on Election Day if we stick together and vote for him because he will always stand up for Alaska," says Clinton.
"He's worked tirelessly for 10 years to improve Alaska schools and communities. He'll always keep the promise made to our seniors to protect, not privatize, Social Security. This Tuesday, vote your values and your children's future. Vote for Scott McAdams. Thanks," the former two-term president closes.
It's actually not a generic theme. Clinton is telling Dems to, as McAdams says, vote their values and not their fears, and not throw away a write-in vote for Murkowski out of fear of Miller.
