The Guardian newspaper is reporting that both George Bush and Tony Blair were in complete agreement about going to war with Saddam Hussein before seeking advice about the legality of going to war in the first place, and before the UN voted on a second resolution advocating war.
According to Lawless World, and Phillipe Sands of the University College in London, Bush told Blair on January 31st, 2003, that he intended to invade Iraq whether or not their was a second resolution, and whether or not any weapons of mass destruction were found. Blair completely agreed with the decision, although he had some misgivings about wether it was legal for them to do so.
Bush told Blair that he was worried about not finding any "hard evidence" against Saddam, so he tried to goad Saddam into firing on a U2 recon plane, hoping Saddam would break one of the resoulutions against him, and thereby give Bush and Blair the oppoutunity to go to war and make it look like a "Gulf of Tonkin" incident.
Bush also wanted a defector to tell of the WMD in Saddam's possession, and there was even a small possibility that Bush was going to assassinate Saddam if the oppoutunity presented itself.
Blair said the second resolution was an "insurance policy", providing cover for the Arabs. Also, a new revelation has surfaced that seems to contradict a Blair statement said in Parliament. Blair said on Feb. 25 2003, that Saddam had "one further and final chance to disarm voulentarily", but as we now know, he and Bush had made up there minds two months earlier to go to war even without a second resolution.
So there you have it folks. Both George Bush and Tony Blair lied to us about the circumstances of going to war in Iraq. Come hell or high water, both of them were going to war whether the rest of the world were behind them or not. This is a blockbuster of a story that is sure to get some traction in Britian, but as we all know, the right wing media here in the US are probably too stupid to figure any of this out, so it's up in the air whether it will even receive any attention here. This alone is grounds for impeachment. Make sure this story receives the attention it deserves.
