Rather than facing the horrifying reality that gay Republicans actually exist, conservative groups are pulling out of the upcoming Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in droves because of the inclusion of the gay conservative group, GOProud:
Two of the nation’s premier moral issues organizations, the Family Research Council and Concerned Women for America, are refusing to attend the Conservative Political Action Conference in February because a homosexual activist group, GOProud, has been invited. [...]
FRC and CWA join the American Principles Project, American Values, Capital Research Center, the Center for Military Readiness, Liberty Counsel, and the National Organization for Marriage in withdrawing from CPAC.
It should be noted that the Family Research Council, the Concerned Women for America, along with the Liberty Council and the National Organization for Marriage were all recently designated as hate groups by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) because they:
... have continued to pump out demonizing propaganda aimed at homosexuals and other sexual minorities. These groups’ influence reaches far beyond what their size would suggest, because the “facts” they disseminate about homosexuality are often amplified by certain politicians, other groups and even news organizations.
But I digress ...
So, what is GOProud's crime in the eyes of these "premier moral issues organizations"? Apparently it's the fear that it:
... could bring its “radical gay” supporters to help in its “infiltration of the conservative movement.”
Or something like that. Of course this would make them the worst infiltrators ever given that they have their own website, so maybe it's really about showers.
More likely is that it's the standard bigotry and homophobia of today's Republican Party, which GOProud members are obviously in denial about.
