Every night, we who post Top Comments eagerly (sometimes timidly) open the Gmail inbox at TopComments AT gmail DOT com to see who has sent in their favorite comments of the day. Some days are diamonds, and we get lots of comments. The best of days, our submitters also tell us who they are and why they liked the comment they are submitting. We really like that.
Like I always say, we could not do Top Comments without you.
Yesterday, we had a date with my mom. She has finally healed up enough to get her eyeglass prescription updated, and desperately needed to get new glasses. Her old ones were eaten by her dog, and so she was wearing a twenty-year old pair of reading glasses.
So we went up to mom's house to pick her up. Since the air conditioning in our car is still out (no money = no repairs), we were also picking up her car. As we got out and started walking toward the front door, we heard my mom and her husband talking. This was curious - they usually wait for us to ring the bell. They hollered out to us that there was a rattlesnake by the front door.
Hello! They could well have come out and stepped on it, which most certainly would not have been a happy situation. Or, we could have stepped on it on our way to the door. Also bad.
Here's the offender:
Every time someone shifted a foot, the snake rattled. Poor little guy was probably afraid that he was going to be squished. I got some video, too, and I'll post it when it finishes uploading.
Here it is!
Unfortunately, he didn't survive the day. As a matter of fact, he lost his head.
The Comments!
From llbear:
Lefthandedman lands a good right hook to the Villagers in This is why the far Right found in MeMeMeMeMe's Diary "Grayson Crashes GOP Meeting".
From JanF:
This comment by Deoliver47 in Sunday's Morning Feature by NCrissieB (discussing the Southern Republican Leadership Conference) talks about the "south bashing" and highlights what the Civil War did NOT resolve.
In the same thread with Dee's comment, this comment by addisnana clarifies that the geography and the mentality are two separate things and describes the road to a "more perfect union" as long and twisting.
From BlackSheep1:

Criticism is a form of love, says claytonben.
Grayson is the anti-Palin, according to ezdidit. Who knows? That may be correct!
