I know a lot of people would love to help in the Netroots for the Troops effort, but maybe you can't afford to donate money and certainly can't afford to make it to Vegas to help pack care packages. Now you can contribute! I'm going to be collecting letters to add to the care packges, and I need YOU. Follow me below the fold for more information.
TexDem and the rest of the NFTT crew are doing a masterful job putting together packages of items that make it more comfortable for the troops to do their jobs and enjoy their spare time while stationed overseas.
Let's put a personal face to this effort, with a personal letter in each care package.
I know there are a lot of you out there who can really write. And whether you think you can write or not, I know you can reach out to someone serving this country in unfamiliar lands with little or no contact from family and friends. You can let them know that you care and you appreciate their sacrifice.
Can you help? We've got 600 letters to write and time is short, so let's get crackin'!
Send your letters by July 4 to:

Here are some guidelines to follow:
- Talk about yourself or your family, thank and encourage them, send poetry, whatever you are moved to write.
- Personal touches are great, perhaps photos of you, your family, your town, your church, etc, if you feel comfortable sending them.
- Hand-written and/or hand-made are best, if you can manage it.
- Positive messages!
- You can include your name and address or email address if you'd like to give them an opportunity to respond.
- Leave out the politics (I know it's hard).
I'll be reading all the letters just to screen them, then packaging them all up and getting them to the fabulous NFTT crew in time for them to go in the care packages at Netroots Nation at the end of July.
