Election Data Services got its hands on new redistricting data based on the 2010 census.
The biggest change? New York will lose two seats while Florida gains two. This fact makes the Florida governor's race even more critical. With Alex Sink clearly ahead of Rick Scott, we have a chance to undo one of the most outrageous gerrymanders in the country. Florida is clearly a swing state, yet Repubs have a 16-9 lead in the congressional delegation.
Also, it looks like talk that Michele Bachmann's district will get cut up were somewhat premature--it turns out Missouri will likely lose a district, rather than Minnesota.
Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey and Pennsylvania are also due to lose one seat, while Georgia, Nevada, South Carolina, Utah and Washington will gain one. South Carolina worries me the most. Based on what we know about South Carolina Repubs, they're likely to gerrymander the hell out of the state to make sure SC-01 and SC-02 are never competitive again.
