What's not okay is to pretend that Harold Ford is some kind of progressive champion, as newly minted Fox News Democrat Joe Trippi does on his blog. Joe had signed on to the stillborn primary challenge of Rep. Maloney, and has clearly had problems with the appointed incumbent. That's no biggie, of course, until you say silly things like, "Harold Ford Jr. is far more progressive than people give him credit for."
No, he's not.
I’m left with the impression that Harold Ford is being paid for future services rendered, that he is being bribed to do the bank’s bidding should he ever become Senator or head of the DNC (remember, Carville was pushing him for that long ago) or something of that nature. I can’t see any other explanation.
That's exactly it. Nothing else makes sense.
He starts with this:
[Ford] blasted [Gillibrand] . . . for opposing the taxpayer bailout of the financial industry. "It was a mistake," he said, noting that most Wall Street firms had already paid back the money. "How can you be against ensuring that the lifeblood of your city and of your state survives?"
Then follows up with this:
"I am a capitalist," he said. "I believe that people take risk, and there are rewards if they do well; they should lose if they don't."
So which is it? Does he believe in capitalism, where there are risks and loses if you don't do well, or does he believe in government bailouts for his banker friends when they bet wrong, the same bankers who are schlepping him around town in limos and helicopters and paying him $1 million per year to apparently do nothing?
The latter, of course.
and his fellow American Taliban traveler says the Haiti disaster was due to Haiti's pact with the Devil. Those people were asking for it, being all Satanic and useless.
