Will Gravel be a spoiler for Nader's chance for the Presidential slot? Two's a Crowd??
Tue Apr 01, 2008 at 09:10:17 PM PDT
Let's not hope Gravel messes things up for Nader's last chance for the presidential run. You know he so ambitious and tenacious. Since Gravel has become an expatriate of the Democractic party and moved to the Independent party, I had wondered how Nader feels about it. Apparently, Andy Borowitz, comedian, wondered the same thing... Hilarious!!!!
At least John McCain is pro-choice
Tue Apr 01, 2008 at 05:54:45 PM PDT
Today I overheard a conversation among some young girls. One of them said she wasn't really happy with Hillary Clinton, but would vote for her over John McCain because she's pro-choice.
The other girl corrected her, assuring her that "McCain is totally pro-choice." When the first girl found that surprising, she was assured, "I'm absolutely sure about that. All the candidates are the same on abortion."

By now I'm sure most citizens of the United States who file a tax return have received the notice letter about the "economic stimulus" tax rebate. You file your tax return, and you get anywhere from $300-1200 back from the IRS in July.

Clinton's Best Moment
Tue Apr 01, 2008 at 02:03:11 PM PDT
Like many here, I have been frustrated by the negative and nasty tone of Hillary Clinton's campaign during the past couple of months. Instead of highlighting her strengths, her campaign has become increasingly focused on tearing down Barack Obama, and making him as unelectable as possible. This strategy seems curiously at odds with what seems to have been most effective for Clinton: revealing herself as a person and displaying her human-ness. Many attribute her surprising win in New Hampshire to her display of emotion and the perception of the media and other candidates ganging up on her in the days before the primary. Today was one of Clinton's best moments, making light of the tense and increasingly bitter atmosphere surrounding the campaign and having some fun at Obama's expense.
BREAKING: New Viral Audio Clip Could Destroy Obama
Tue Apr 01, 2008 at 01:53:15 PM PDT
Hello, fellow Kossacks. I won't waste much of your time with an introduction today. I have to get to the point: Barack Obama is in trouble, and he needs our help. There's a very serious issue that needs to be addressed right away; this morning, the New York Times discovered an audio clip that could potentially end Obama's candidacy for the Presidency. This audio clip, which is currently making the rounds on the Internet, must be stopped. More below the fold...
... And The Disease Continues To Spread Unchecked
Tue Apr 01, 2008 at 10:39:31 AM PDT
Once again, our environment and our very selves are being exposed to toxic substances in the name of greed and profit, while our intellectual sloth-driven incompetent (or complicit?) media keeps on ignoring this grave danger.
Following Paterno's Lead, Bowden Hangs 'Em Up
Tue Apr 01, 2008 at 09:59:48 AM PDT
Tallahassee, FL, April 1, 2008: In a move unprecedented in college football history, two iconic coaches have stepped down on the same day. Following the announcement by Penn State's Joe Paterno earlier in the day, Florida State's Bobby Bowden has done the same and said he will retire at the end of the month.
Surge of Fainting After Bloggers Read April Fool's Stories About Clinton Dropping Out
Tue Apr 01, 2008 at 09:51:49 AM PDT
(CP) - Kitchen floors and office buildings all over the country felt a shudder today, as hyperventilating blog readers dropped to the ground by the thousands. Their computer screens typically were set to one of the 15,000 postings about Hillary Clinton suspending her campaign, joining the McCain campaign as Vice President, or abruptly resigning the Senate to join a traveling circus, all of which are deeply funny and original.
A local hospital has experienced a shortage of beds for all the patients coming in with head injuries. "We don't know what to do with them all... wait a second, Hillary's getting a sex change??" said registered nurse Samantha Morgan, before falling off her chair.
Bill Clinton proposes "uberdelegate" system
Tue Apr 01, 2008 at 09:01:27 AM PDT
ALTOONA, PA--At a pre-dawn prayer breakfast, Former President Bill Clinton called Democratic party leadership to abandon its current primary system of delegates and superdelegates, and to choose its candidate for president this season via "uberdelegate" instead.
"When people speak of American democracy they speak of 'one man, one vote.' It's time to realize that ideal, and that's why I'm calling on the party to abandon this inefficient and divisive state primary system and just let me make the dang call, already."
"One man," he continued, pointing at himself. "One vote."
Halperin on Tonya Harding (1994)
Tue Apr 01, 2008 at 08:03:46 AM PDT
After watching Mark Halperin's latest, and reading Poblano's excellent diary, I did a little research and found that Halperin filed the following report in the weeks prior to the US Winter Olympic Trials in 1994 - I guess he used to be a sports reporter:
BREAKING: Jeremiah Wright credits Obama as inspiration for sermons
Tue Apr 01, 2008 at 07:28:21 AM PDT
Uh, oh... This is NOT good news...
Here we go again...
This just scrolling off the APF newsfeed:
In a scheduled talk to members of an independent think tank
Sunday, March 30 in New Orleans, LA, the Reverend Jeremiah A. Wright revealed
background details of some of his past sermons that had aroused
considerable national controversy in recent weeks. Reverend
Wright's latest assertions seem certain to once again place
presidential candidate Barack Obama squarely in the middle
of a new firestorm of criticism.
"As the most politically astute of my flock, of course Barack
would be the one to whom I would turn when composing a sermon
that addresses our national condition," Reverend Wright allegedly
asserted in his remarks to an audience of over 200 members of
Americans for a Better Way. "The child is truly father to the man."

BREAKING: Florida Lawmakers Vote to Return Pi (π) to Its “Biblical” Value
Tue Apr 01, 2008 at 07:26:54 AM PDT
Reported by April Holliday (AP Newswire)
Kennedy Space Center -- NASA engineers and mathematicians in this high-tech community are stunned and infuriated after learning the Florida state legislature in Tallahassee overwhelmingly passed a law yesterday [March 30, 2008] redefining the value of pi (π), a mathematical constant used in the aerospace industry.
The bill to change the value of pi to what some contend is its "biblical" value of exactly three (3.00000) was introduced without fanfare by a John McCain supporter, Sen. Iza Lou Zerr (R-Sarasota). It rapidly gained support after a letter-writing campaign spearheaded by Rep. Lance A. Boyle (R-Boca Raton) who is also a member of the Let’s Get Back to the Bible Society, a radical right-wing religious group who believes the 3.00000 value is based on scriptures.
BRAKING: Murdoch In Discussions to Buy Kos: Now with Poll!!!
Tue Apr 01, 2008 at 06:43:11 AM PDT
Changes. Changes. Changes. We all know that Daily Kos produces enough income to support several groups of individuals including Kos, extended family, front page diarists and the diarists that make the rec list day after day after day. Apparently, Rupert Murdoch knows this as well because the Walll Street Journal reports that he's entered into negotiations to buy Kos.
Gulp. Apparently, The Rupe says that it would be his intentions not to change the editorial policy all that much. We may not have much choice but to believe him.
More after the fllip.

Meta: Some suggestions to improve Daily Kos
Tue Apr 01, 2008 at 06:02:46 AM PDT
As many of you know, I've spent far too much time thinking about meta issues. Today, I'd like to put forth a few suggestions to improve the Daily Kos experience. No graphs, I promise (unlike yesterday). This is a framework, and, I hope, a way to spur discussion.

UPDATEDx7 - BREAKING: BUSH & CHENEY RESIGN!!! (With Poll)
Tue Apr 01, 2008 at 04:10:03 AM PDT
Yeah, so according to MSNBC & CNN, Bush and Cheney both resigned today, at exactly 3 AM EST, when the President received a phone call from Senator Hillary Clinton, who told him that either he could resign or "whoever is the Democratic nominee" will make sure to impeach him post office, once elected, which apparently you can do.
