FISA Reform Bill: Here's What They Aren't Telling You
Thu Jun 19, 2008 at 03:56:20 AM PDT
The Senate and House leadership (majority AND minority leadership, and heads of both Intel Committees) were in on warrantless wiretapping from 2003 on, just as they were briefed about new torture doctrine long before it was revealed in the media. Like the CIA’s "enhanced interrogation techniques", FISA violations went on for years with the Congressional leadership's knowledge before the public learned about it.
Under present law, without change, that makes some very powerful Senators and House leaders – along with White House figures and telco executives -- criminally and civilly liable, and subject to years of being named in law suits and, possible indictment. They know this, and so should you.
The push for amnesty is pure CYA, all the way around. That's why the senior members are now pushing for telco amnesty, while the incumbent President will sign it, knowing that the next one – President Barack Obama -- has vowed not to.

Washington state Dems: Yes, vote in the primary too
Tue Feb 12, 2008 at 01:29:03 PM PDT
While the mantra before the Feb. 9 caucus was "the primary doesn't count", that doesn't mean you shouldn't vote in it. It still may count for something.

Studies show that most Americans (
not most Kossaks!)are happy and like their OWN Congressional representatives, it is all the OTHER Reps and and Sens that are the problem! If you DO like your Reps and Sens (or even if you don't) here is your chance to keep them out of the dock at the Hague!
RIGHT NOW the White House is trying DESPERATELY to pass legislation to keep George Bush and Ronald Dumsfeld out of the orange jumpsuits that their victims are forced to wear.
But are your Reps and Sens aware that THEY could end up with the same tailor???
A Simple Question
Sun Sep 17, 2006 at 03:04:08 PM PDT
During this past week, as George W. Bush desperately tried to shove his torture policies down the throats of the American people, we've seen him throw a temper tantrum during his
press conference when asked about the Colin Powell letter:
If there's any comparison between the compassion and decency of the American people and the terrorist tactics of extremists, it's flawed logic. I simply can't accept that.
Please note: Powell's letter made no comparisons between terrorists and the American people and Bush actually yelled this answer.
We've watched as Bush has threatened to take his ball and go home if he doesn't get his way:
...the American people have got to understand this -- that this program won't go forward; if there is vague standards applied, like those in Common Article III from the Geneva Convention, it's just not going to go forward.
And from reading the transcripts from the press conference and recent speeches, I have a simple question for Mr. Bush...
'Obstructionist' Dems Need To Live Up To Their Name
Mon Sep 11, 2006 at 06:42:05 PM PDT
The Republicans control the White House, The House, The Senate and have huge influence on the Supreme Court. But they have not accomplished
anything on their proposed agenda. No immigration reform, no corruption reform, no Social security reform, no new effective Fatherland security, no progress in Iraq, Iran or North Korea and going backwards in Afghanistan.
Buncha Losers!.
What is their current excuse?

Pinochet and Bush. A Cautionary Tale
Sun Sep 10, 2006 at 10:07:17 AM PDT
There are so many scandals coming out of the Bush Administration that it is hard to react to them all. And don't expect the media to actually spend a little time on an important story,; but something happened this week that few, other than Arriana H noticed:
Chile's Supreme Court on Friday stripped former dictator Gen. Augusto Pinochet of immunity from prosecution for alleged abuses at one of his regime's most notorious detention centers -- where the current president and her mother were tortured -- a court official said.
Does Bush or Cheney or Rumsfeld or Gonzales think It's going to be any different for THEM?
