Updated with link/GreyHawk :: The Battle For America, Full Throttle Edition

Wed Nov 14, 2007 at 02:02:46 PM PDT

I posted this diary on behalf of GreyHawk at DocuDharma  and ePluribus Media who had used up a daily diary late yesterday.  However, since then s/he has posted the content below in another diary.  Please go here to comment and rec it up.  It has about 20 recs and it would be great to get it on the recommended list.  The video should be seen by everyone.  Buhdy has posted it in the comments below so I will leave this diary up for now as a trail to GreyHawk's.  Please go here and recommend.

The citizens of this nation need a good talking-to, not a talking point. It's time for the citizens to stand up and insist that their elected officials perform their duties as public servants and defendants of the Constitution instead of as tin-plated demigods of political voodoo and power-plays.

The Battle For America, Full Throttle Edition

Wed Nov 14, 2007 at 12:47:17 PM PDT

The citizens of this nation need a good talking-to, not a talking point. It's time for the citizens to stand up and insist that their elected officials perform their duties as public servants and defendants of the Constitution instead of as tin-plated demigods of political voodoo and power-plays.

Earlier tonight, in light of my posting of a video from 2004, I was encouraged to post some additional information about the video, the artist -- anything, actually -- just to get the video out in front of people. Here is that post.

Originally posted to ePluribus Media's new beta site, plus front-paged on ePluribus Media's Community Site and on Docudharma, where I was encouraged to write this expanded version. Please share it widely. Some suggestions are in the first comment.

Thank you.

TeleComs - Use the Benjamins Against Them

Fri Oct 19, 2007 at 10:46:06 PM PDT

Since recent events have shown that the United States Government can no longer be counted on to protect the rights of the American People, that said Government has in fact become the ENEMY of the Citizens of the United States, it occurs to me that it is time to show not just the US Government, but also the Global Corporations that control said government just how powerful the People can be when they act as one.

This diary contains suggestions on how to make one segment of that unholy alliance of government and corporations, the telecommunications sector, feel that power.

Citizens to the Rescue! Mass Mailing Project to Protect Liberty

Wed Jul 11, 2007 at 09:57:47 AM PDT

Pfiore8 wrote a diary last week (http://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/7/5/142051/8599) asking what do we do about our bad leadership.  Several regulars joined the discussion and we all mulled over how to take some constructive action on behalf of our country:  buhdydharma, bleeding blue, Chesapeake, goon  01, Owllwoman, clammyc, Dem in VA, dov12348, Starve2Act, Unbozo, rangemaster, The Wizard, and by now perhaps others.   But what?  What do we do that will impact our leaders?  This is a question constantly in my mind these days.  How to help get us out of the trouble this country has been put in by our leaders.  I am one small person.  What is arrayed against me and our civil life in the United States is truly beyond my total understanding, even if I were a full-time 70-hour-a-week wonk.  Oh, I did pay a bit more attention than most to politics all my life, but still not a lot.  Or enough -- since we have turned into an Empire and no one said anything about it until the announcement was made!  How did we get here?  What do I do about it now that the horses are out of the barn door?  I find myself aghast at both major political parties and the whole present policy of the United States.

America's Pathetic Media and What We Can Do About It

Wed Jun 13, 2007 at 05:28:25 AM PDT

It once was the concerted effort of the media to educate the electorate through investigative journalism and the promotion of serious discussions of serious issues.  Today, as we all know too well, the thrust of the media is on trivialities, tabloid headlines, and sensationalism.  There is something, however, that ordinary citizens can do to change this.

A more practical way to surge

Sun Mar 18, 2007 at 04:27:52 PM PDT

Forget the troops. We need a new approach as a people, coming from the people of the US, bypassing this corrupt and disintegrating administration.  We need grassroots power focused on creating the social change that bullets and bombs and white phosphorus cannot ever create.

Iraqis expected the US occupation to result in restored electricity and water, rebuilt infrastructure, and return to a bustling life where work could be found, markets worked, fields cultivated, and their oil production restarted for the benefit of their people, not 13 US oil companies.

While organizing another Boston Tea Party or march on the mall would be fun, let's move on to really mucking things up with offers to help and fix thing in Iraq, like Iraqis sort of were hoping we'd do.

V for Vendetta

Mon Oct 30, 2006 at 09:06:25 PM PDT

I watched V for Vendetta at the behest of my freshmen and found it not too bad.  At least it warns us of some of the excesses of government, and the fact that it was originally a comic book really blows my mind.  Young people read comic books and that genre of literature is really improving as evidenced by this movie.

Linking Impeachment Groups - Now With Links

Mon Oct 09, 2006 at 07:06:12 PM PDT

I got this message through the grapevine.  It is an attempt to link together and consolidate the local campaigns working on impeaching the Bush Gang.

"Hello from Bellevue Washington,
At Eastside Fellowship of Reconciliation, we are petitioning online
and on paper, to impeach President Bush. . .

"We at EFOR have about 10,000 signatures in the Seattle area already.
Our objective is to create a database of ALL of the petitions for
impeachment throughout the nation, so that our true numbers can be
counted.  We want to help other impeachment action groups to find and
support each other, focus on  strategy,  identify resources and throw
the scoundrels out.   Please look at our website for a better sense
of who we are: http://www.eastsidefor.org/...

Channel 5 (Boston) Responds

Thu Sep 07, 2006 at 04:07:45 PM PDT

I wrote to my local ABC affiliate, Channel 5 (WCVB), yesterday to find out if they were planning to air "The Path to 9-11".  This is what I wrote:
I am disappointed that ABC has produced the distortion-laced "Path to 9-11" miniseries, and also disappointed in Channel 5 for planning to air it.  As have been documented online and by those such as ABC's own Richard Clarke, many of the scenes depicted never happened, and the implication of the miniseries, that Osama bin Ladin's rise was due to President Clinton's inaction, is not supported by the 9-11 Commission report, upon which it is purportedly based.  I turn to Channel 5 for news every night, but if this miniseries airs without these inaccuracies being fixed, I will have to turn elsewhere.  I would hope that the news department would be able to pressure the programming department to drop the program, or at least to highlight the inaccuracies of the program.

Alas it was in their webform, so I wasn't able to say as much as I wanted to.  At any rate, their response, and my counterresponse, on the flip.

Global Warming, Local Hope

Thu Jun 15, 2006 at 10:31:56 AM PDT

As the evidence of global warming becomes inescapable, I fear Americans will switch instead to a fatalistic pessimism. Maybe it's real and maybe it's our fault, this sentiment goes, but at this point there's nothing we can do, so we're off the hook.

ACTION REPORT: 250 Copies of "Crashing the Gate" Delivered to Congressional Dems! UPDATED

Tue May 23, 2006 at 08:44:24 PM PDT

Today members of the Roots Project delivered a copy of Crashing the Gate to every Democrat in the House and Senate. Each copy was donated by an American who wants to see our elected officials engage the blogosphere and understand our power as a grassroots force. We visited two hundred and forty-nine offices in one day with no more than a dozen people.

Senator Durbin being santorumed

Wed Mar 29, 2006 at 12:30:51 PM PDT

Right-wing nuts in Illinois and elsewhere are trying (and currently succeeding) to turn "lying, partisan hack" into a googlebomb that points to #2 Senate Dem and Illinois' senior Senator Dick Durbin.

Big Victory in Connecticut!

Thu Dec 01, 2005 at 09:51:57 AM PDT

History was made at 2:45am, EST, this morning, when the Connecticut House joined the Senate in passing a comprehensive campaign reform bill that will establish full public financing of campaigns for all state offices. A coalition led by the Connecticut Citizen Action Group and supported by Common Cause, the League of Women Voters, Public Campaign, and many other groups, kept the heat on all sides and got the legislature to do the right thing. The bill now goes to Governor Jodi Rell, who has said she will sign it.

How did this happen? And what lessons should we learn from this victory?
