[Texas] After the Flood: Fixing Our Caucus System
Mon Mar 31, 2008 at 09:53:34 PM PDT
Crossposted at BOR:
Two days after the big meltdown here in SD10, and already those of us who served on credentials and had a hand in running the convention are trading emails speculating on how we can prevent things from spiraling so far out of control again. After all, we want our conventions to be meaningful and well-attended, from the state convention all the way down to the precincts. We have to fix some things to make that truly possible, though.
Go below the fold to find out what we've thought of so far.
Hillary dirty tricks in TX: one person's account
Mon Mar 31, 2008 at 05:46:15 PM PDT
A woman named Lisa wrote in to John over at Americablog to share her mother's firsthand experience with Hillary's dirty tricks in Texas this past weekend to disenfranchise Lone State voters. It is a disturbing account for many reasons, and Lisa wondered why such dirty tricks weren't being covered by the media. I wonder that too. So I felt compelled to share Lisa's account on here, in the hopes of giving the story wider visibility.
Tomorrow in Texas
Fri Mar 28, 2008 at 02:36:14 PM PDT
Tomorrow, Texas Democrats will attend their County and State Senate District conventions to certify the results of their election night precinct conventions. This will determine once and for all that Barack Obama won the most delegates in Texas.
This diary contains the information you will need to either attend your convention, follow the results online, or help Barack Obama by calling delegates and alternates in Texas and urging them to attend.
IMPORTANT: If there are any problems with your County / State Senate District convention, call the Obama hotline: 512-476-2002. Calm, cool and collected volunteers will be standing by. This is the number for all of Texas. Put it in your cellphone now.
Hillary, Please don't mess with Texas

The Clinton campaign is apparently doing anything they can to scrutinize the country conventions on Saturday in Texas by sending an onslaught of lawyers. They seem much less concerned about whether they can get enough organization and support among delegates attending the convention as they are about the legal process. This is very sad, as the excitement level within the Democratic party in Texas is the highest in years, and efforts to challenge the legitimacy of the process will not only hurt the Presidential candidate in November, but hurt down-ticket candidates like Noriega (running for Senate), who needs every bit of excitement now still existing in November.
I have a letter sent to volunteer lawyers (from Politico) below the fold.
What happened in Iowa yesterday (w/ maps)
Sun Mar 16, 2008 at 02:09:21 PM PDT
"Respect, Empower, Include." -internal Obama campaign slogan
As you may know, the Iowa Democrats held their county conventions yesterday and the result was a big bonus for Senator Obama in the projected delegate count, changing the media projection of Obama 16, Clinton 15, Edwards 14 to Obama 25, Clinton 14, Edwards 6.
It should be noted, however, that like the previous projection, this one is not permanent. It may be closer to the final count, but like the previous projection, it depends upon delegates showing up and staying by their current choice. I have long been saying that Edwards's 14 Iowa delegates had not materialized yet, and truly, the same is true about the current 6. The process is far from over. It will continue through the April 26 district conventions and the June 14 state convention.
