Seriously, I am like totally smashed - I try and log on to Crooks and liars - have been reviewing that site for over four years - and low and behold - I am banned. I have not a clue of what I said, what I posted, who I pissed off over there to banned me?
A little reactionairy to Bill O;Reilly - in fact, this whole banned thing, like huffington post - what is that about - the typical - I am so scared of poster on a freaking open posting site that I have to banned so called posters? How looney is that?
As we loyal Americans all know, the president's wartime powers under the Constitution gives the president the authority to do anything he feels necessary, even if it would otherwise be unconstitutional. There are some people in this country who, despite the fact that 9/11 changed everything, don't realize that their hateful America-hating endangers our troops and strengthens the al Qaeda-Iran alliance. Therefore, I hope that you will use your unlimited constitutional wartime to authority to to rescind the following traitors' right to freedom of speech:
On March 7, 2008, a jawdroppingly vile screed against gays by Oklahoma House of Representatives member Sally Kern.
It was pointed out to me by peskydang of Delphiforums, who found it on Crooks and Liars, who found it at Pam's House Blend. Kossack jmbranum wrote it up yesterday, here -- it's still rec'able. Please bump it up. I'm going to post the video (really just the audio, but with a video someone added to it) below the fold.
In a diary I posted on December 20 here, "Texas War Hawk Senator Cornyn a Draft Dodger?" and on December 26 on Texas Kaos "Why Texas Deserve Better than Senator Cornyn, Part I," I asserted that rubber stamp for W. and war hawk Cornyn shirked military service during the Vietnam War when he had every opportunity to serve. While a college student, he had drawn a very low draft lottery number and yet he somehow managed to hide behind a student deferment when such were not supposed to be available at the time. Senator Cornyn likes to talk big and tall about a global war on terror as long as he and his don’t do the fighting.
This diary will disclose Cornyn’s rather interesting rise to political power in Texas. The way I see it, Cornyn’s candidacies were essentially both enabled and purchased by a group of the Texas GOP rich, politically connected and very powerful people.
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who
That it's namin'.
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'. - Lyrics
I never thought I'd see the day when I could safely say that the pollsters, the pundits, and the establishment democrat bloggers would turn toward the light migrant justice. That day has come and it only affirms one of the Doctor Reverend Martin Luther King Jr.'s most hopeful themes.
"How do they determine what's arson and what's terrorism?" she asked, noting accurately that authorities believe arsonists were responsible for at least "some of these fires." (Authorities say arson has been shown to have caused only two of more than a dozen fires so far.)
Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow discussed it last night.
I've met and interviewed Brian Williams. He's a lovely guy. Personable, funnier than expected and smart. He is also irrelevant.
There's nothing wrong with Brian Williams. He is a smooth, professional news anchor. He's not offensive, biased or fake. He plays it straight - and that's his problem.
It's not him. It's us. We're not interested in someone regurgitating the news to us and taking a half hour to do it. We don't need a professional news anchor to tell us what the news is. This isn't 1955. I've got all the news in the world at my fingertips, what do I need this guy to tell me what he thinks is important? Who cares what Brian Williams thinks is important?
In the old days, you needed these authority figures to sort out the news for you and tell you what was important and weed out the riff-raff. But these aren't the old days. I have a mind of my own. I don't need to borrow a news anchor's. And if I were to borrow one, that's not the first place I would look.
In a story posted at 6:15 p.m. PDT, John Amato of Crooks and Liars links to and excerpts from a Florida news story on the death of a Republican strategist and two others inside the strategist's Orange County home.
Last night while watching The Daily Show, I watched Jon Stewart play a clip of CNBC's Erin Burnett say the following:
"A lot of people like to say, uh, scaremonger about China, right? A lot of politicians, and I know you talk about that issue all the time. I think people should be careful what they wish for on China. Ya know, if China were to revalue it’s currency or China is to start making say, toys that don’t have lead in them or food that isn’t poisonous, their costs of production are going to go up and that means prices at Wal-Mart here in the United States are going to go up too. So, I would say China is our greatest friend right now, they’re keeping prices low and they’re keeping the prices for mortgages low, too."
Why the new FISA bill is even worse than you think
This is the headline of an important article by Anonymous Liberal over at Crooks and Liars. AL has dug into the guts of the legislation and he/she (hey the Anonymous Liberal is anonymous to me but probably not the NSA) has concluded:
Most of the debate in Congress and coverage of the bill in the media has focused on whether these procedures and oversight requirements are sufficiently rigorous to protect Americans’ civil liberties. They’re not. But that’s more or less beside the point because–and this is what I think many people do not yet appreciate–given the way FISA is structured, the President is under no obligation to follow even these watered-down oversight requirements. They are merely optional.
Optional to Bush means NONE, and that the Cheney/Bush Junta has the absolute power of a dictator when it comes to surveillance.
Unfortunately this law is not limited to just national security monitoring. Aziz Huq in The Nation noted:
That was the logo on one of the ads on Crooks and Liars this morning as I made my morning blog rounds. It was like a knife in the gut, as someone who has a genetic condition that generally, although not in my case, includes mental delays and disabilities.
Why do they have to attack people who are among the most vulnerable, people who may not the defenses they do? Because make no mistake, by using that slur in that way, they are attacking people with mental delays and disabilities. It is no different than calling someone a "f.." or a "n.....".
I completely realize that Crooks and Liars has no control over the ads placed there by google, and google may not have any control over what the ads are that are placed there by cafe press, and cafe press does have any control over the logos on the products their customers create, so what do you feel can and should be done?
First, Joe had to step over a prostrate protester in his office to get to work:
"Would someone please, please give me some water?" whimpered the fainting Code Pink demonstrator.
"Get that damned woman out of my way!" roared the impatient Senator. "I have to give another press conference - to let everyone know that things are going beautifully in Iraq!"
By now we're all aware of Ann Coulter's disgusting attacks on the Edwards family. It seems half of the diaries since have focused on slamming the attention seeking slime monger. I've got mixed feelings on this as the target is certainly deserving, but I hate to see her get any more of what she wants: publicity.
So here I am with a Coulter diary. Why? Because as some people have pointed out, the best revenge we can have on her is to turn her into a fundraising tool. Up to now this has been invoked solely as a reason to support John Edwards, but truth be told - Ann Coulter is an equal opportunity filth merchant. She attacks all democrats. Case in point, her little noted sliming of Barack Obama on the Hannity and Colmes show Tuesday night.
During the 6/14 congressional hearing on human rights, Rep. Payne (D-NJ) asked Thomas Malinowski of Human Rights Watch about the "diplomatic" impact of Senator Lieberman's recent bomb Iran commentary.
Congressman Donald Payne: I just wonder what do you think about the recent statement by the... I guess he’s an ‘independent’ from Connecticut , Senator Lieberman, who has a bright idea — let’s just go bomb Iran. I mean, do you that’s a good diplomatic tool to help us try to win over our people?
Thomas Malinowski of Human Rights Watch: Well, as I suggested in my testimony, I think if our goal is to unite the Iranian people with their leadership that’s a really good way of doing it.
There you have it! Lieberman's idea of how to win the hearts and minds of young Iranians. I bet Bush is considering replacing Condi with Joe as the next Secretary of State considering that brilliant demonstration of skillful diplomacy! Bush does seem to have a knack for fox in the henhouse political appointments.
