Breaking: MI delegate solution proposed by Sen. Carl Levin
Wed May 07, 2008 at 07:08:28 AM PDT
Actually it's the "Gang of Four", Carl Levin, U.S. Rep. Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick (mother of Mayor Kwame), UAW President Ron Gettelfinger, DNC member Debbie Dingell (wife of Rep. Big Bad John) suggest splitting the difference between the Obama and Clinton camps. Considering the delegate math, this is actually a slight win for Obama, as they can be seen as generous. A pure total win would have been 50-50.
Now it's proposed from MLive.com reporting:
Clinton would receive 69 pledged delegates, under the Gang of Four's plan. Obama would receive 59.
This is better than a Hillary-ruled Rules Committee decision that could "abide" by the MI primary and
apportion Michigan's delegates based on the Jan. 15 tally, 73 of Michigan's 128 pledged delegates for Clinton and 55 for uncommitted/Barack Obama.
Note to DNC: No Do-Overs
Thu Feb 07, 2008 at 01:18:45 PM PDT
The DNC's profoundly stupid decision to tell Michigan and Florida (yes, Florida!) voters that their votes won't be counted has bitten them in the ass.
Now, apparently, they want a do-over:
A top Michigan Democrat [Debbie Dingell] says the Democratic National Committee is pressuring Michigan and Florida to hold Democratic presidential caucuses so the delegates they've lost for holding January primaries can be seated at the national convention.
Nope.
Let's Be Serious In Michigan: Vote Uncommitted, Not Mitt
Mon Jan 14, 2008 at 07:38:24 AM PDT
By now, we all know Markos has come up with this Michigan Democrats for Mitt idea. It's here and here too.
The main problem with Kos' scheme is that we Michigan Democrats need to worry about picking our own nominee, rather than attempt to have some small impact on their nominee. It's more imperative that we Michigan Democrats do our little part so that we do not end up with Hillary, our weakest candidate and least progressive potential president.
Every vote for Romney is also a vote for the headline "Hillary Wins Michigan, Controls Race."
So, think before you follow a bunch of out-of-staters trying to get you to vote for a Republican and instead

Michigan May Be Having a Real Caucus Afterall

The The Democratic Primary is Dead! Long Live the Caucus!
From the Detoit News:
Senate Republicans have decided not to take up the presidential primary bill passed Monday by the House, meaning New York Sen. Hillary Clinton likely will be the only top Democratic candidate on the [meaningless, delegateless] Jan. 15 ballot.
From the MLive blog:
The state Senate today refused to take up legislation that would have restored the names of four Democratic presidential candidates to Michigan's Jan. 15 primary ballot.
Thank you Democratic Senate Caucus and our brave 35 NAYs on HB 4507 in the State House.
The fake "primary" with no candidate visits, no campaigns (no offices, mailings, ads, nothing), no actual National Convention delegates, and no voice for Michigan is now a completely meaningless joke.
Only Hillary, Dodd, Gravel (and Kucinich by accident) remain on this meaningless beauty pagaent ballot (that won't even make it out to overseas voters in time for them to get it back).
Deb Dingell's Osama/macaca moment: "blow up NH/Iowa"! Protest
Tue Nov 13, 2007 at 10:27:09 AM PDT
Debbie Dingell, GM executive and John Dingell's wife, recently said that she wanted the now-overruled 1/15/08 Michigan primary to "blow up New Hampshire and Iowa"! see the Detroit Free Press. This is a true macaca moment, or Osama moment maybe.
See also Jack Lessenberry in the Traverse City Record-Eagle, noting that Debbie
said that "extraordinary efforts" to repair and save the primary would be undertaken.
It was vital to still try to hold the primary Jan. 15, she told a reporter, because that would "blow up New Hampshire and Iowa."
One has to wonder what ammunition dump she has been guarding. ...
That's sad, yo. (Action recommended below; read on!)
