Sky Falling? Read This!!!
Fri May 02, 2008 at 08:02:22 AM PDT
Feeling a sickening feeling in your gut? Irresistable urge to wring hands? Feeling pieces of the sky on your head? You DON'T need to go there. I have the solution for you!!! Read on! Oh...And hey, those with the desire (paid for or otherwise) to cause confusion and disillusion for those in another camp? Watch out, y'all.
It's not often that I diary an article from another blog rather than reporting news or thoughts from my interior. Given that this is the Friday before yet another manic primary weekend however and given the tsunami of cold sweat that has been deluging from the pores of handwringers (and the concern trolls who would heave buckets of cold water and have us believe it was sweat)...I thought that I should refer people to this article at The Field entitled...Boot Camp for Chicken Littles.

Conditions Under Which I Would Support Hillary -- With Poll
Thu Apr 24, 2008 at 10:03:51 AM PDT
As a diehard Barack Obama supporter, it pains me to have to consider supporting Hillary Clinton as the potential Democratic nominee. This diary entry is part self-preparation for a worst-case scenario and part line-in-the-sand for myself to look back on in the unlikely event it's necessary.
Please join me over the jump.
Leave Hillary Alone! Please do not tamper!
Sat Mar 29, 2008 at 04:57:46 AM PDT
NPR reported it this way this morning (Im paraphrasing) Leahy says "Hillary has no good reason to stay in the race......" Hillary retorts " There are millions of reasons.... all the voters in the states that have not voted. Wala....narative effectively manipulated. "Hillary "the underdog, Hillary the attacked, Hillary whoose voters are disenfranchised" will now be her theme. She has already proven that she will do whatever it takes to wring votes and media her way - tears and other techniques. So please leave her alone! Do not tamper! Dont feed the fire! At least don't scold her or tell her to go away just yet, wait for the next few primary contests please. Besides, her campaighn is imploding under sniper fire NAFTA and any other such real stories. We cannot give Clinton any wimpy narrative to latch on to. They will latch on to it and sway this whole thing their way, whether it should happen or not. So stay cool and as Toquedeville said in a great diary this morn, "Be like Barack"! Focus on a gracious campaign and the best candidate will rise to the surface!
Hillary Clinton and Big Brother

(Crossposted at my own blog.)
No, this isn't another strained, clichéd 1984 metaphor that would leave George Orwell shaking his head in disgust if he were still alive. I'm talking about the TV show, Big Brother. Specifically, Celebrity Big Brother. Is there any reality show that could possibly be more undignified, shallow and degrading than that program?
The Long March (to settling on a Dem prez candidate)
Fri Dec 28, 2007 at 09:48:00 AM PDT
This is an account of my personal journey towards deciding which primary candidate to support for the Democratic nomination. I do not belong to any faction now and have not joined one at any time during this primary season. Moreover, since 2000 I have committed myself to support the Democratic candidate in the presidential election, no matter who it was. That decision still holds, particularly given the Republican field for 2008: I'd never vote for any of them.
In this primary cycle, I haven't been able to decide who to support. Early in the primary campaigns, I thought I might choose Bill Richardson, but he never seemed ready for prime time.
After that brief flirtation, my default support has gone to HRC. In my view, she is competent, smart, experienced, and interesting. I'd like to vote for a first woman president. I have nostalgia for the (mostly) good times of the Clinton years. But I have problems with some of her positions, and they have grown rather than diminished as the primary cycle has continued. For example, I am not a supporter of free trade; rather, I support fair trade...or, at least, careful trade. I was disgusted with her unwillingness to say the U.S. would be out of Iraq in 15 (!!!) years and horrified by her vote on Iran.
