This morning, the U.S. Senate failed to override a threatened filibuster of a bill sponsored by Spector and Leahy, The Habeas Corpus Restoration Act Of 2007.  The bill would have amended the defense spending bill to restore the right of habeas corpus to those detained by the U.S. military as part of the 'war on terror'.

I won't belabor the importance of Habeas Corpus, "The Great Writ", except to point out that without it we have no rights because this is the only way a citizen can have their day in court to determine whether your rights have been violated.

There is no justice without it!

Right now the Habeas Restoration Act is being debated on the floor of the Senate and the current vote count is:

7  - Nay
42 - Unclear
