Hell Throws Big Welcome Party for Jesse Helms

Fri Jul 04, 2008 at 01:53:39 PM PDT

Noted racist, sexist, homophobe, poor-hating, Confederate-sympathizing, anti-communist nut job senator from North Carolina, Jesse Helms, has died.

A Substantive Review of Jesse Helms' Evil

Fri Jul 04, 2008 at 01:42:08 PM PDT

Growing up as a gay teenager in the 1990's Jesse Helms typified the kind of racist, homophobic evil that is still being vomited up on upon our great country every day.  The kind of evil that instilled feelings of self-loathing in my friends which drove so many of them to drug abuse, alcoholism and attempted/successful suicide.

I've seen a number of diaries on here today about Jesse Helms' death today.  However, few have recounted the precise instances of hatred and evil he spewed over the decades he was alive.

If he truly held Christian beliefs, I suspect that Helms will find his new home in the afterlife to be a bit warm.  If the hell he believed in really is a place where you are tormented by your sins for eternity, let's just say that some strapping male African demons will be, ahem, "having their way" with him for a very long time.

Dante's Inferno Part III of III

Mon Jun 30, 2008 at 07:04:36 AM PDT

Ever since I got here I always knew that Americans were puritanical at heart, wishing Hell on everyone, claiming Hells influence on everything. So I took upon my self to go to Hell and see what was really there, for the education and benefit of all.

The journey largely mirrors another taken seven hundred years before.

Br Grim

Because of the size of the poem it has to be split in three, (this is part III of III) so 3 diaries across 3 days, but the entire poem can be seen at Dante's Inferno Revisited and at the Grim & Grimy blogspot

Consider it an ABC of sin

For the record, only the last canto will count (XXXIII)

The quickly-approaching light; time to change our agenda.

Sun Jun 29, 2008 at 01:23:28 PM PDT

The quickly-approaching light at the end of our tunnel this election cycle is a turbocharged, nuclear-powered locomotive, the likes of which we've never seen. It will arrive at our station well before we cast our votes in November.

The headlines of the past 48 hours spell it all out (see below the fold). Unfortunately, many of those headlines were with regard to stories published outside the U.S.

Unbeknownst to the majority of U.S. society, due to a total lack of responsible reporting of the facts by the MSM, it is now self-evident to this diarist that the sky really is falling.

Hell is getting very chilly

Sat Jun 28, 2008 at 06:14:16 PM PDT

I come from a very Republican family.  How Republican was it?  Well, one grandfather was a Bircher, who subscribed to The Plain Truth and seriously argued that Dwight Eisenhower (even though a Republican) was secretly a communist.  When I came out against the Vietnam War, he told me in front of all the family that I should be put up against a wall and shot.  My other grandfather was an oil man and true to his class.  I once told him that I favored a girl of Japanese extraction.  He told me that if I married her, she and my kids would have to eat in the garage when we came to visit.  We're talking extremophiles like you rarely see any more.

My father was also in the oil business.  My brother was a corporate lawyer for Texaco.  My stepfather was vice president in charge of legal affairs for Getty Oil.  As a kid, before my father started drinking, I won swimming tournaments at the country club in Dallas.  We're talking very, very Republican.

The times they are a-changin', however.

Open Political Joke Thread

Fri May 09, 2008 at 06:54:27 PM PDT

Good evening everyone.  I hope you're having as much fun on this Friday night as I am.  A tornado went through my neighborhood last night, throwing everything all to hell, so it's kind of been a bad day.  Also my significant other is studying for an exam tomorrow, so I'm not allowed in the living room.  So I thought that maybe we could all have a little fun at our politicians expense, if everyone is so inclined.

OMG – Hell has frozen over!

Fri May 09, 2008 at 03:33:50 AM PDT

No, I don’t have any photographic evidence to prove that Satan’s inferno suddenly has been transformed into a winter wonderland, nor am I meaning to suggest that the threat of global warming has abated.  But it’s evident to me that there has been a climate shift of cosmic proportions.

Let me explain.  My mother, an octogenarian who’s voted Republican her entire life except in 1960 when she elected to support JFK because he shared her Roman Catholic faith, revealed to me on the telephone yesterday that she’s voting in Kentucky’s upcoming primary for Barack Obama!

This is no minor transformation, and it began as a direct consequence of the Bush administration’s war policies combined with the emergence in power of the evangelical community.

Reflections on Hell

Mon May 05, 2008 at 08:11:27 AM PDT

The revelation that an Austrian man held his own daughter captive in a dungeon for 24 years, raping and beating her the entire time and forcing her to bear seven children by him got me thinking about the idea of hell.

Police in Austria say Josef Fritzl may have planned the dungeon in which he incarcerated his daughter Elisabeth as early as 1978 - when she was 12.

Hell is commonly conceived of as uncannily similar to the life this captive woman had, except that it lasts forever instead of 24 years. And people go there not because a sick monster puts them there, but because a supposedly loving God, creator of the Universe, puts them there for not believing that a guy who lived in Palestine about 2000 years ago is his son and also part of a 3-way God creature with him.

Superdelegates ... get off the pot!

Sat Apr 19, 2008 at 03:22:10 AM PDT

(Cross posted at The Dead Guy)

46 contests have come and gone in this Democratic Presidential Preference cycle. Only 8 states and 2 territories remain. And yet, per Politico.com, there are 248 uncommitted superdelegates - that's about 1/3rd of the total possible.

What are they waiting for? Are they leaders or are they cowards?

If your state has already voted in this year's preference contest - look up your state on Politico.com and find out who is still uncommitted and tell them to "Sh*t or get off the pot!"

The Nine Circles of Political Hell

Tue Apr 01, 2008 at 02:43:40 PM PDT

Inspired (of course) by Dante.

Circle Number One
Inhabited by those truly unaware of the effect politics has on their lives. They spend eternity circumnavigating a large cylinder, always surprised to find themselves back where they started but never realizing why.

Hillary and Barack To Wed!

Sat Mar 08, 2008 at 06:03:53 PM PDT

Look, I send my apologies to Bill and to Barack’s wife for this sudden interruption to their domestic arrangements but the survival of the Democrat Party, America and the world is at stake. Marriage between a white female and an African American will pull America and the whole world out of its downward spiral, will demonstrate unity between genders, unity between races, unity between political dynasties and those from the wrong side of the tracks, unity between a one-term Senator and a two, etc.

Look, let’s face it, Bill has not been a model husband. If Hillary terminates him for the good of America, he can’t blame anyone but himself. Or perhaps Monica. Though he didn’t have sex with that women, people understand that something did occur in the Oval Office and it wasn’t a red phone call either.

Lies, Injustice and the Capitalist Way:

Sun Dec 23, 2007 at 09:26:48 PM PDT

"We’re on the Highway to Hell—Don’t Stop Us!"

By Jason Miller

Thomas Paine's Corner

http://www.bestcyrano.org/...

We "Free World" capitalistic Westerners are a loathsome lot—or to put it more crudely, we suck. When one considers how degenerate we are from a collective standpoint, it is difficult to suppress intense feelings of disgust and contempt. There are many layers to our repugnant, depraved, and "beloved" capitalism, a socioeconomic system which ultimately furnishes the members of its upper echelon with de facto licenses to exploit, plunder, and murder with impunity. Problem is that as one peels back each successive layer hoping to find some purity, one finds a more profound rot.

The GOP Is In Hell. Must. Read. Editorial.

Tue Oct 23, 2007 at 01:16:54 PM PDT

Robert J. Elisberg is a contributor to the LA Times, Los Angeles Daily News, Los Angeles Magazine, and C.NET. This post was found on Huffington and it places blame for the meltdown of the GOP where it clearly belongs

It should come as no surprise to Republicans that they are facing a far-right religious wing that's destroying their party. A wing so disruptive that it's discussing running a third-party candidate. And now at the problematically-named "Values Voters Summit," the G.O.P. is helping rip apart its own party.

As news reports note, not a single Republican presidential candidates is meeting with approval. The leader, Rudy Giuliani, is seen as a step from being cousin to Beelzebub. Forget 9/11, radical-right Republicans see Giuliani as 666. The second leading candidate, Mitt Romney, is as bad -- part of a "cult," as the leader of the influential First Baptist Church, Robert Jeffress, harshly dismissed Mormons.
