Obama Makes Puzzling Choice for his "Economic Policy Director"

Wed Jun 11, 2008 at 05:40:11 AM PDT

First off, I support Barack Obama. I find him to be a candidate I can get behind, despite some discrepencies in our stands on certain issues (I would say I am far more liberal).

That said I was still somewhat stunned when i mosied on over to RawStory this morning and read notice of Obama's choice for "Economic Policy Director" for his Presidential Campaign. I would have thought working with low income people in Chicago and then representing them in State Senate would have given Obama a different perspective.

HRC receives Ricky Martin endorsement!

So, why'd she say it, exactly? (w/ Poll)

Sat May 24, 2008 at 10:10:15 AM PDT

You know, I still don't quite know yet why Hillary said what she said.  There's all this outrage but this morning I woke up thinking, so why'd she say it exactly? 'Cos the reason her campaign is giving is kinda stupid. Though some people -- like those on CNN -- have apparently accepted it and painted her as an innocent victim.

I just watched CNN's Politics Daily Podcast and they almost sounded sorry for her, lamenting how "every little thing you say is used against you" in a campaign. The guest, and Wolffe, spoke slowly and clearly tailored their words: "Hillary got in trouble for mentioning assassination when discussing campaigns that continue until june."

The Dream Ticket

Thu May 22, 2008 at 12:30:02 PM PDT

It is becoming more and more obvious that the road to the White House for Hilary Clinton has a big sign that reads "Detour" planted right in the middle of it.

Let's face it her chances of becoming the first women Democratic President of the United States are about about the same as an oil executive driving a Prius to his private idling jet.

But fortunately for Hillary the stars have aligned just so, and now there is an almost sure fire way for her to be the first women President. All of her hard work, all of her ambition, and all of her lifelong planning to be the first women to sit in (and not next to) the big chair in the Oval Office are almost within her grasp.

It's just a matter of finding the right road and thus being part of the perfect Dream Team that would be unstoppable in the 2008 general elections.

Laddies and Gentlemen I give you the 2008 "Dream Ticket":

What I learned at MyDD (and it ain't pretty). [updated]

Fri May 09, 2008 at 03:58:03 PM PDT

I'll admit the obvious up-front: I'm an Obama supporter and I'm biased about DailyKos being great, and MYDD being, well, not so great.  (BTW: Check out the latest posting by Jerome, who still thinks Hillary is winning.  Does his family not care enough to plan an intervention? Anyway...)

So, having avoided the place mostly, I decided to check out MyDD again today just to see if maybe some sort of balance had returned. Oh my...

A voice from UNDER the bus...

Thu May 08, 2008 at 07:30:49 PM PDT

Not to put too fine a point on it, but Hilary threw me under the bus quite awhile ago. I mean, I felt myself slipping in New Hampshire - seems about ten years ago, I think. By South Carolina... I was a gonner! I was under the bus as the Clinton Campaign started the effort to paint Barak as the "Black Candidate" as opposed to a Democratic candidate who happened to be Black.

I Don't Care About Hilary or Obama: Tuned Out, Turned Off

Sat Mar 22, 2008 at 06:08:45 PM PDT

Before you tar and feather me, I'm a proud bleeding heart liberal. I have always supported Democratic candidates. I became even more active when Clinton was unfairly impeached. I can't count how many faxes, phone calls, letters and e-mails I've sent whenever I received a call to action. When Al Gore was cheated out of being President, I went crazy: I blogged, I ranted, I phoned, I even put orange ribbons on the trees in my front yard. So yeah, I'm a Democrat through and through.

But I'm sick of this year's race, I'm tired of the candidates, and quite frankly, my family and I don't give a hoot's owl if it's Obama or Hilary. We suffer from ADWD: Any Democrat Will Do.

Hillary Clinton Supports Bill to Help NonCustodial Parents

Sat Mar 22, 2008 at 03:36:03 PM PDT

Now, I'm not what you would call a Hillary Clinton supporter, far from it, but this is one case where I think this individual has actually done something well.

Divorce, as we know it, is an awful thing, and many parents are using their children to get even with the other parent.  The problem lies partly on child support.

Ok, this is a hot topic.  Many people actually need the support and don't receive it from their ex-spouses.  While others, who have little education or a high paying job, are required to pay an extreme amount of money to their ex-spouse and can't pay it.  While others just think that their ex is using the money to watch the Boston Red Sox play in the Tokyo Egg Dome with front row box seats, so they don't want to pay.

Neither is correct, the parent should pay and be part of the child's lives.  The children see what's going on and suffer.  This has to stop.

Hillary Clinton is supporting legislation to help low income people, especially African Americans, who cannot pay their child support obligations and ensure that what they do pay goes directly to the parent.

ABC:  Hilary Has Edge

Wed Mar 12, 2008 at 06:41:49 AM PDT

Cue the Stones.... Ti-i-i-i-i-ime is on my side.  Yes it is now...

Last nights Obama victory in Mississippi has led Disney media to some fascinating insights into the Presidential campaign.

First- Hilary Clinton does much better during those periods of the campaign when no voting or caucusing is taking place.  This bodes well for her in the next six weeks where it will not be possible for her to lose any contests.

Time on Her Side: Obama Maintains Lead, but Clinton Might Have the Edge

One of the things mitigate Obama's success this week in Wyoming and Mississippis is..

Clinton's resounding victories in the far larger states of Ohio and Texas last week.

Dear America- please ignore the number of delegates won by each candidate in Texas.  Hilary Clinton won Texas.  Got it?

Election between1992-Bill-Clinton & 2008-Hilary-Clinton (and vote)

Sorry for the short diary. Yesterday, there was a recommended diary
about an idea for a good Obama advertisement, the link to which is
here:

I had another idea for an Obama advertisement that I wish would
run. The add would, Jon Stewart Bush-vs.-Bush style, pair the Hillary
Clinton of 2008 running against the young Bill Clinton of 1992.

Judgement: Hilary’s McCain admiration betrays her lack of judgement, and the Democratic party.

Fri Mar 07, 2008 at 10:01:56 AM PDT

Judgement: Hillary’s "McCain admiration" on the campaign trail this week betrays her lack of judgment, and the Democratic party.

Desperate times always justify desperate measures.  At least that is what Senator Clinton has adjudicated this week on the campaign trail with her repeated declarations of admiration of Republican senator John McCain.  Her McCain admiration cumulated with her stunning statement that, of the remaining candidates, only she and Republican Senator McCain have  “passed the threshold” when it comes to demonstrating “commander in chief” leadership.

This of course is in stark contrast to Senator Obama's repeated statements in previous Democratic debates that any of his fellow Democratic rivals would be more fit for the presidency than anyone the Republicans were offering up, including Senator McCain. At the time, Obama was not attempting to make a profound political statement but instead simply declaring an obvious Democratic truth: any Democratic 2008 nominee would be a far superior choice than subjecting the country to 4 more years of Republicans rule after 8 disastrous ones.

Obama moving foward!!

Tue Mar 04, 2008 at 10:27:34 PM PDT

I'm a big time Obama fan and grew up in Ohio. For Senator Obama to lose by so much in Ohio really hurts my feelings. So as a form of therapy I would like to share how I feel that Obama can win the nomination. According to Bill Clinton I'm one of the people who don't need a president. I'm AA, I'm 25, I live in IL, I'm college educated, and make over $100,000 a year. Only problem is I don't drink lattes or coffe at all. However I been blessed and I believe that Obama has the best plan to move America foward. This isn't a pro-Obama diary it is a Obama "To do List"

Hillary Uses Discredited McCain Advisor to Attack Obama

Fri Feb 15, 2008 at 08:14:45 PM PDT

Crossposted at Economists for Obama

Hillary's campaign is so desperate that they quoted a McCain advisor, Kevin Hassett to attack Obama's economic plan as just a copy of Hillary's.

First of all shame on Hillary for using Republican talking points.

Second of all...KEVIN HASSETT...all you need to know is two words "Dow 36000", a book co-authored by Hassett in 1999 predicting that the Dow would be three times higher than its current 12000 level.

Thank you, Billy Shaheen

Sat Dec 15, 2007 at 08:51:24 AM PDT

I wrote a comment yesterday about whether Bill Shaheen, the co-chair of the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign in New Hampshire was acting of his own free will when he questioned Barack Obama's adolescent drug use, or whether he was a tool of the Clinton campaign.

I know I wear my tin-foil hat a lot these days, but whether he just spoke stupidly, or was told what to say, the desired results were achieved today.

More below the fold....

How Your Civil Rights Help Catch Criminals

Sat Dec 01, 2007 at 06:03:13 PM PDT

Every time someone asks a candidate about civil liberties the question always seems to come to the false choice: safety or civil rights.

But I'm going to offer a new way to ask the candidates that question. We need to ask them if they understand how our civil liberties help cops do their job, and do it well.

So I am going to lay out here a new frame: civil liberties help catch criminals. Sometimes even terrorists.
