I was this close to predicting an Edwards endorsement right after West Virginia -- I just expect big news from the Obama campaign after a rough voting day.  Like Teddy after New Hampshire.  But now, it's also floodgates time.  So, who's going to be the next big endorsement?  Webb?  Gore?  Clinton?

Fair warning, there is some serious bashing in this article from the NY Daily News.

You can choose your own highlight for bold type from this, I can't decide:

Hillary wants desperately to be the Democratic populist, even as she plays to the same gullible audience that elected George W. Bush twice, saying she is so tough that she will blow Iran to smithereens. And of course she will save the working class with a plan at the gas pumps that ought to come with a laugh track. This all happens at the end of a campaign in which she has constantly accused Obama of being the one who is all rhetoric and no solutions.

She stays in the race now for the worst possible reasons, hoping that there is some new bogeyman like Wright around the corner and Obama will somehow break down in the stretch like a fragile racehorse.

It is the Clinton version of the politics of hope, and it all goes on while Obama runs the closest possible thing we have seen in 40 years to the campaign Robert F. Kennedy was never allowed to finish in 1968.

What's remarkable is the fact that these results came out with Clinton at near her best (at least, according to the punditry, she had found her "voice" and seemed more confident than ever, etc), and Obama at his worst (or, at least, his most vulnerable).  For 2 weeks Obama was on the defensive, and for the last week it seemed like all the crap that was being thrown at him might finally get to him in a real way.

Picture this:

 You and your friend Binky are sitting at a corner table finishing up after a long night of your favorite drinks. You've laughed your butts off, talked politics and world problems, you've talked about fond memories and how the hell your are going to pay for your kids college tuition and put away enough money for retirement, etc...etc.

You both notice that Hillary and Bill Clinton are sitting at the bar. It's been a long night for them and they seem to be in a somber mood as they order their last drinks for the night.
