Let me state explicitly in the first sentence of this diary: I do not believe the current "PUMA" Democrats who oppose Obama are crazy. The title of this diary comes from a saying my dad told me that's stuck with me since.
He told me "You can't fight crazy."
As in, don't try to engage somebody in rational conversation if they're so far down their own road that they can't deal with you rationally.
This video nails it. Obama's got the right idea when responding to Hillary and the media's silly, petty attacks and setting it to Jay-Z music just makes it so much more effective. Looking at a string of Hillary's silly attack lines all strung together just makes you realize how much she's lowered herself during this campaign. Pitiful.
Folks, Obama has done it again. On the heels of that awful debate, where he clearly (unfortunately) got pummled, Obama went on to discuss the issue of the "distractions" that seem to overwhelm discussion of real policy issues. He went on to discuss the problem when the media and other campaings focus on these "gotcha" distractions, and how to deal with them. The rest is history.
This is my first diary. I came over to dailykos during the Wisconsin primary and have viewed the postings quite regularly since then.
This diary is my response to the ABC debate and the aftermath that followed. This blog was originally posted on my blog, chocolatechiq.com.
BTW, I am a huge Barack supporter. Although I did make a reference to the "Internet Fanatics for Hillary" and I know that all her supporters are NOT crazy and rabid...just a some of them...ok, I have to admit we have some rabid Obama supporters also.
***UPDATE***
I am having some problems trying to respond and get the tip jar. I occasionally have problems when interacting with sites because of my firewall, trying to work it out now, but thanks for the responses***
In what I can describe as a blissful moment in American politics, Obama has begun today to use the reprehensible debate topics from last night to his advantage. In a speech today in North Carolina, Obama has ascended to what I can only describe as rap star levels of coolness in the face of unending assault from ABC, the rest of the media, Clinton, and McCain.
Geekesque tried to neutralize this by claiming that the footage she linked proved that Obama did not play Jay-Z's "99 Problems" and instead the music was something else. It was a nice try, but according to Taylor Marsh, there were two parties - one public and one private party. The alleged incident took place at the latter.
Now, there is faux outrage because the New York Post (a Murdoch publication) was the first to run the story. (Meanwhile, there is never this much outrage when the paper publishes anti-Hillary trash.) The paper obviously prides itself in sensationalism, which is why I didn't take the charge seriously at first, but then this:
