Ray L. Hunt: Catalyst for Cataclysm
Sat Oct 27, 2007 at 10:39:30 AM PDT
Why have tensions suddenly escalated along the Turkish border with Iraq? Why have Kurdish PKK guerrillas been going out of their way in recent weeks to provoke a conflict with Turkish forces? Why have Kurdish PJAK guerrillas been stepping up their cross-border activities into Iran?
The most important clue may lie in the persona and actions of Ray L. Hunt, CEO of Hunt Consolidated, Inc., member of the Halliburton Board of Directors, Bush "Pioneer," major Republican fund-raiser, contributor of $35 million to Southern Methodist University (SMU) to support a George W. Bush Presidential Library and think tank (oxymoron alert), and, by the way, member of the President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board (PFIAB).
In short, Ray L. Hunt is a poster boy for Republican, Texas Big Oil, crony capitalism.
Below the break let us ponder how Hunt appears to be a primary catalyst for cataclysm in the Middle East.

Iran: Another Neocon Stupid Idea
Thu Feb 01, 2007 at 04:23:25 PM PDT
There have been two big "WTF are they thinking" questions at the center of our current mideast strategy:
- Since they're Iran's natural allies, why are we in bed with the Iraqi Shiite Arabs?
- What on Earth makes us think we could possibly win a war with Iran when we're hopelessly bogged down in Iraq?
I'm about to propose that there is a Fundamental Stupid Assumption that bridges and answers both those questions... and it's the same sort of FSA that brought us "We'll be greeted as liberators!", and got us bogged down in the current mess.
Keep in mind: as we've seen over and over again, the Neocons have learned from Strauss that the average intellect cannot grasp grand strategic designs the way they do... so when we inferiors say, "But that's a Totally Stupid Idea" they just chuckle condescendingly and keep on marching... right over the cliff.
Neo-Cons: "Real Men Go To Khuzestan" S. Iran Will Be "al-Ahwaz"? w/POLL

KHUZESTAN, IRAN IS WHERE THE OIL IS, AND WHERE THE U.S. AND U.K. ARE APPARENTLY ARMING AND HELPING AN ARAB REBELLION:

THE NEO-CON VIEW OF GRABBING IRAN'S OIL:

A MAP OF "AL-AHWAZ" (Formerly Southern Iran):

Notice how the map of the "al-Ahwazi" independence movement corresponds conveniently with the reported battle plans of the neo-cons for Khuzestan and the southern coast
Some here at DailyKOS know I've been concerned that the neo-cons plan to invade Iran, not all of Iran but just the oil-bearing province of Khuzestan and the southern coast adjacent to the shipping lanes. This article reports that in 2003, the neo-con mantra was "REAL MEN GO TO KHUZESTAN", which the author then used as the title of the article.

"We are already at war" - UN official to RAW STORY.
Cheney and Rummy are out-manuevering Condi for control of the Oil Wars and are putting the conquest of the Iranian oil fields in Khuzestan closer and closer. Raw Story reports:
The Pentagon is bypassing official US intelligence channels and turning to a dangerous and unruly cast of characters in order to create strife in Iran in preparation for any possible attack, former and current intelligence officials say.
One of the operational assets being used by the Defense Department is a right-wing terrorist organization known as Mujahedeen-e Khalq (MEK), which is being "run" in two southern regional areas of Iran. They are Baluchistan, a Sunni stronghold, and Khuzestan, a Shia region where a series of recent attacks has left many dead and hundreds injured in the last three months.
On the Road To Elam;

I have been wondering just what the hell is going on in Khuzestan. I guess the simple answer is more of the same. Six thousand years ago this province just east of the Euphrates River, where the Mesopotamian Plain ends in the Zargos mountains, was the ancient kingdom of Elam; named after the eldest son of Shem. Its capital was the Ziggurat of Susa, on the River Karun. This land is so ancient that 2,200 B.C. Elam was conquered by the upstart kingdom of Ur. After two centuries Elam rose again and destroyed Ur. Then, in 1,120 B.C. Elam was conquered by Nebuchadnezzar the First.
How a Reality Addict Sees Iran, How Neo-Cons See Iran (Map)

"The aide said that guys like me were "in what we call the reality-based community," which he defined as people who "believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality." I nodded and murmured something about enlightenment principles and empiricism. He cut me off. "That's not the way the world really works anymore," he continued. "We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality - judiciously, as you will - we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do." "
HOW THE REALITY-BASED COMMUNITY, DEMOCRATS AND MODERATE REPUBLICANS SEE A WAR WITH IRAN:

Reality-Based Community Fantasy Analysis: The US and UK cannot invade and hold Iran, it would take 600,000 troops to control such a large area containing 80 million people.
Battle Plan for Iran: The Khuzestan Gambit (90% of Iran's Oil)
Thu Feb 23, 2006 at 06:09:14 PM PDT

Ever hear of Khuzestan? Well you're about to hear a lot more about it soon, because that appears to be the only province of Iran that we're actually going to take control of in the up-coming war with Iran.
It's the province where 90% of the currently producing oil fields are located (see maps above). And it's right next to all our forces in Iraq, so--with an indigenous Arab rebellion--we can easily take Khuzestan on the tired old WMD and democracy excuses. All without the 600,000 troops estimated for a full conquest of all Iran.
