Mon Oct 30, 2006 at 03:08:11 PM PDT
In a huge come from behind surge Democrat
Dan Seals is ahead 48% to 46% in a new
Majority Watch Poll. This race has been moving up closer to competitive; Congressional Quarterly
moved it from Safe Republican to Republican Favored on in August and Chris Bowers of
MyDD moved it to Lean Republican a few days ago. But until now no poll or pundit had yet has put Seals in the lead.

NY-03: Peter King Thinks He's Thomas Jefferson

It seems that every time Peter King opens his mouth he says something unbelievable, something that clearly puts him at odds with the constituents he's supposed to serve. Among his more memorable quotes:
"My campaign is that I'm George Bush's guy in Congress." (New York Times)
"I thank God every night that he is our president."
Thank you Netroots! NY-29 Shifting in our favor. Keep Hammering on Iraq.

I will not be able to liveblog this morning but I wanted to share some news with you. Good news seems to be coming from every direction for Team Massa. The best news is that yesterday Majority Watch (
link) released a new poll that has me beating Randy Kuhl 52-40. According to the poll, my opponent is winning the rural southern tier of NY-29 by a single point and we are winning the northern part of the district by 26 points!!
Even if one takes the poll with a grain of salt this still represents a positive change from our recent poll in September which had us in a statistical tie with Kuhl. I will just quickly note that this reflects a nationwide trend that bodes well for Democrats. The midterm elections have become nationalized and are, to a large degree, a referendum on the Iraq War.
