Bill, Why Do You Always Give Markos All the Credit?!
Fri May 16, 2008 at 01:58:27 PM PDT
Listen O'Reilly, I'm the one that posted the now infamous Jenna/Iraq Wedding Pictures and you put Markos's picture up on the damn TV. Don't you know how this site works? Hey, don't yell at me; I'm not a teleprompter, ok? The guy wasn't even in the country when this diary was posted, yet you flashed his picture not mine. Next time I want my mug up on the screen not his, ok? Here's a nice shot of me; it’s got my name on it and everything:

The Questionable Ethics of Kos's Berkowitz-Young Poll
Fri May 16, 2008 at 12:00:53 PM PDT
On Thursday, May 15, Markos Moulitsas pubished a set of polls he had commissioned from Research 2000, seeking information from 600 probable Alaska voters on four candidates, in hypothetical "if you had to vote on this today" scenarios. The two scenarios are a Sen. Ted Stevens vs. Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich matchup, and a Rep. Don Young vs. Ethan Berkowitz matchup.
The polls asked a number of questions regarding favorable-unfavorable views toward the four, and both show victories by the Democratic challengers over the GOP incumbents now holding those two seats in the national legislature. The information in them is valuable, but is it pertinent? - especially in the hypothetical Berkowitz vs. Young race.
But, more importantly to this blog and to its readers, has Markos Moulitsas crossed an egregious ethical line in the way he has handled his spin here regarding Ethan Berkowitz's house campaign since December? I think he has. Here's why...
AK-AL Campaign poll (and Kos post) ignores Diane Benson
Thu May 15, 2008 at 02:54:43 PM PDT
AK-Sen, AK-AL, AK-Pres: Democrats competitive all around
Kos shows his latest poll information:
Young (R) 40 (42)
Berkowitz (D) 50 (49)
and then goes on to look at the results in light of the Rasmusson AK Presidential Poll:
McCain (R) 49
Obama (D) 42
McCain (R) 55
Clinton (D) 37
You better believe Begich and Berkowitz are cheering Obama's primary victory.
If you're like me (a Diane Benson supporter) you'll find it irritating that she's been left out of the results altogether. That was also the case in December.
O'Reilly: "Delete my *ucking subscription, Newsweek"! Kos = D. Duke!
Thu May 15, 2008 at 01:43:30 PM PDT
I'd like to congratulate the owner of this website. He has angered Bill O'Reilly so much that he has ranted against Newsweek magazine for hiring "our Kos" as a columnist.
More below the fold
Markos, our thoughts are with you and your family.
Thu May 08, 2008 at 08:05:09 PM PDT
I noticed comments were disabled on your latest post, but I thought some on this site might appreciate an open thread to send you our wishes and thoughts.
As someone with two elderly grandmothers (or really anyone with loved ones) can attest, they gave us our parents and occupy a special place in our lives. I can only hope that Eli has the opportunity to meet her, as meeting her great-grandmother is an experience that will last her whole life, even if her memory of the moment is fuzzy and supplemented by her parents reminders.
I have no doubt she is proud of you, what you've done and who you have become. Of your family, your career and your service to your country (even if her's is still El Salvador) both in uniform and in civilian life.
We will miss you while you are away, and look forward to your return, but understand and expect you to take as much time away as you feel appropriate and necessary. The political world will continue...
Who needs polls? We have Markos.
Wed May 07, 2008 at 08:32:41 AM PDT
Once again, all of the polling data was wildly wrong. Why would anyone pay any attention to any polls, when The Great Orange Satan can just pull numbers out of his "you know what" and be so much more spot on. (I can just imagine that Bill in Portland Maine gets all tingly when he sees Markos pull things out of his you know what - luv ya Bill)
Some examples: Indiana. SUSA C+10, Suffolk C+6, ARG C=8
MARKOS C+2.2 actual C+1.1
North Carolina. SUSA O+5, IA O+3, Composite O+7
MARKOS O+12.2 actual O+14
I would like to propose, that since we will all vote whatever way Markos tells us to anyway as the mindless cut and run robots that we are, and in light of the fact that so many state budgets are in the toilet these days, that we just save the money and skip the general election and move straight on to the Supreme Court decision.
Open Letter to Kos
Tue May 06, 2008 at 10:21:34 PM PDT
First let me say Kos you can trip over the fold I have to address those that don't understand.
I know this is Kos' blog, he has afforded us a place to express our opinions, there is no need to explain it's his house. Something else he has done is enjoy being called out by people who take advantage of the place (he's laughing now), so before that thought enters your mind trust me, you will have more to complain about because if this gats under his skin he say things you can only dream.
Still with me Kos?
Why I love the DailyKos [Updated, slightly]
Tue May 06, 2008 at 11:28:07 AM PDT
Back on Feb 4th, Markos caused a minor stir when he said this:
...Hillary's best hope at this point appears to ride out the clock. For Obama, his task for Tuesday is simply to survive. He needs to finish within 200 delegates of Clinton to keep it close...
Now, if you can remember a billion years ago before Super Tuesday, this statement caused something of a tussle. The hardcore Obama supporters felt it was unfair, demanding too much of a candidate with no name recognition. The hardcore Clinton backers said it was unrealistic, claiming that a simple Clinton victory on Super Tuesday would seal Obama's fate and should rightfully end his campaign.
No matter where you fell back then or align yourself now, there's something we all have to admit:
Hey, Markos!
Tue Apr 29, 2008 at 03:10:01 PM PDT
I've got an idea for you:
Instead of getting up on your horse whenever a substantial minority of your audience disagrees with you, and inviting them to hit the fucking door, how about encouraging them to constructive action?
EXTRA OFFICIAL THREAD -- NOW WITH MORE OFFICIALITY
Mon Apr 28, 2008 at 11:56:47 AM PDT

It's official -- this diary is extra-official.

I didn't really agree with Kos' front page diary about Barack Obama's FOX appearance, and I didn't really agree with the OFFICIAL DISAPPROVAL diary, so I decided a man without a country should really build a country for himself.
PS: Thanks to Elsinora for the Ceiling Cat graphic. My official thanks.
Kos' attack on Obama for going on FOX (UNOFFICIAL THREAD)
Mon Apr 28, 2008 at 11:51:41 AM PDT
I initially posted this as a comment in Kos' story, but then realized it was lengthy enough to be a diary.
My disapproval of Kos stance on Obama and Fox (please recommend)
Mon Apr 28, 2008 at 11:17:06 AM PDT
To show my disapproval i'm not even going to write a full diary post.
I think Kos has really missed the boat / point or whatever on the importance of Obama reaching out to Fox and a lot of other self proclaimed simple Americans because they pretty much make up almost half of the vote in November. Not all of these people are total neo-con sh*theads. They are just simple folks that need to warm up to Obama, and they only way to do it is for Obama not to appear scary, then slowly he can express his rational and logic and hope some of those simple folks finally get it.
The whole premise of the Obama campaign is to reach out to the other sides. A trojan horse of logic if you will. So please Kos do not support further dividing the lines and playing Fox's game.
Please recommend to let Fox (I mean Kos) know your opinion...
I'll let the poll speak for itself....
Thank you to Markos Moulitsas
Fri Apr 25, 2008 at 04:44:02 AM PDT
This is going to be short and really not a Diary. I caught Markos on Real Time with Bill Maher last week and I haven't heard or read anything on DKos about his appearance. If there was I missed it.
You were great and I loved your comments on the ABC Debate last week. The people that are asking the questions are the elistist according to the last definition by Cornell West.
George Stephanopolis and Charlie Gibson are the elitist, they are guilty of talking down to Barak Obama. They have a concept that Middle class America is the income level of $200,000 a year. They are not speaking for most Americans.
Rebuilding the Gate.
Thu Apr 24, 2008 at 03:17:08 PM PDT
Markos Moulitsas and Jerome Armstrong wrote a good book in 2006. In my view, and many others, they correctly diagnosed the disease of what ailed the Democratic Party.
It was a Party governed by an elite establishment consulting class that had lost all contact with real America and lost all skill at doing their jobs. A Party derailed by competing special interests, each of whom had no sense of the bigger picture and only loyalty to the special interest and not the party. And a Party led by leaders and candidates who have applied the same electoral and campaign strategy, year after year, with no success. Yet, the Party establishment, adrift in failure, claimed superiority above the rank and file. They knew better. They knew what we did not: That we have to become like the Republicans in order to beat them. That we have to play the game on their field in order to win, and not ours.
Rahm Emanuel - Kos's BFF
Mon Apr 21, 2008 at 03:02:25 PM PDT
Well, at least in Alaska, Markos Moulitsas and Rahm Emanuel are in bed together. They're both supporters of Ethan Berkowitz's Alaska Democratic Party Primary campaign for the AK-AL U.S. House seat, now held by Rep. Don Young (Pervert - CNMI).
Markos, after commissioning a United 2000 poll late last fall on both the AK-AL House race and the 2008 Senate race for the seat Ted Stevens now holds, donated $1,000.00 to the Berkowitz campaign for the first quarter of 2008. This wasn't at all unexpected, after Markos showed up on the roster of attendees at a San Francisco fundraiser held for Berkowitz this winter.
But the biggest donor to the Berkowitz campaign chest was Illinois Democrat, Representative Rahm Emanuel. Rahm's PAC, Our Common Values, donated $10,000.00 to Berkowitz in the first quarter. It wasn't only Berkowitz's biggest donation, it was the biggest amount Emanuel's PAC appears to have ever donated in a quarter to a yet unelected Democratic Party candidate in a primary against two solidly progressive and credible opponents.

The good of the party
Fri Apr 18, 2008 at 10:31:01 AM PDT
An excellent article by Krugman in the NYT - click here.
Krugman has once again debunked Obama's theory - I assume Obama & his fanbois will flame Krugman.
But remember what our very own Markos wrote about the Obama/Krugman tussle.
Obama has made a cottage industry out of attacking the dirty fucking hippies on the left, from labor unions, to Paul Krugman, to Gore and Kerry, to social security, and so on.
