Hillary Balboa vs. 200+ "elite" economists. She lost.

Hillary Clinton/John McCain have continued to distinguish themselves from President Bush this week. Along with long term commitments in Iraq (see Hillary, 2005) and threatening Iran, now the two (Republican?) candidates are hitching their wagons to the gas tax moratorium.
"Gas Tax" flyer tells the story in no uncertain terms...

Showdown! 2000 Hillary slams 2008 Hillary's gas tax rebate plan
Tue Apr 29, 2008 at 01:15:48 PM PDT
Just yesterday, Hillary Clinton joined her fellow conservatives in calling for a repeal of the federal gas tax for the summer:
Yesterday, Hillary said:
Hillary Clinton yesterday criticized Barack Obama for opposing the concept of suspending the gas tax ..a plan both she and John McCain have endorsed.
My opponent, Sen. Obama, opposes giving consumers a break, I understand the American people need some relief."
unfortunately for her, 2000 Senate candidate Hillary Clinton already weighed in on this issue and had some harsh words for its proponents
She said :
Clinton, meanwhile, lashed out at [the] plan to repeal 4.3 cents of the gas tax, calling it "a bad deal for New York and a potential bonanza for the oil companies
And 2000 Hillary was just getting warmed up:
Can John McCain be any more pathetic?

It isn't like we haven't already asked ourselves this question about a gazillion times, what with the "I don't want Roe overturned...wait now I do" moments and the "Rumsfeld deserves our respect...oh wait, he's the worst Sec. of Defense EVER" moments (among others).
But the magnitude of his pandering only continues to grow. If only I knew how to incorporate a "patheic-o-meter" in my diary...
Pander Bear McCain

I completely agree with Thers (on Atrios) on this one, 'Pander Bear' as a nickname for McCain has some real legs. Although New Englanders with their crazy accent may not get the joke, I feel that this is to McCain as Flip Flop is to Kerry.
