the dangers of racebaiting

Tue May 20, 2008 at 08:59:51 PM PDT

When one stirs up the latent and overt feelings of racism in a multi-racial society, cynically and for political purposes, any blood that is spilled as a result is on your hands.

It is akin to yelling "Fire" in a movie theater, it could lead to unexpected results, wounded feelings, and even bodily injury to members of the group that is scapegoated.

I am concerned about the small black populations in West Virginia, and in Kentucky.  Clinton blows into the state, stirs up the good white citizens against this scary black man and then leaves.

What does she leave behind?

Five Mistakes Hillary Made by Time.com
(Make that Six)

  1. SHE MISJUDGED THE MOOD

That was probably her biggest blunder. In a cycle that has been all about change, Clinton chose an incumbent's strategy, running on experience, preparedness, inevitability — and the power of the strongest brand name in Democratic politics.

There were times when I thought I could have run a better campaign. She also misjudged the anti war sentiment of the Democratic voters in the primary. If she were smart she would have said "I made a mistake on the Iraq vote but I'm against the war now and I will bring home the troops as soon as possible". She said too little too late. And the voters wanted her to be more honest. More straight talk than spin and games. She misjudged.

Clinton fundraiser:  Obama "worshipped" Wright

Tue Mar 25, 2008 at 01:03:14 PM PDT

It should be clear, if it wasn't already, that the Clinton campaign has decided that it needs a diversion from Hillary's lying about Bosnia and Obama's release of his tax returns, and that that diversion is their using Sean Hannity's talking points to smear Obama with Wright's comments.  Not only did Hillary Hannity push the smear twice today, but it turns out that a member of Clinton's finance committee even went further over the weekend in an interview on Irish radio, including the despicable use of the false equivalence between Wright and David Duke.
