Rebuild what? Republicans are not done destroying their brand

Fri May 16, 2008 at 04:24:15 PM PDT

or How is the view from the gutter?

I've been following the Republican Party's woes.  I've been enjoying the schadenfreude, too.  For the most part, they don't seem to get it.  They simply don't see the extent to which the Republican national leaders like George Bush, Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, Tom Delay, Dennis Hastert, John Boehner, Mitch McConnell et al have been destroying their party.  This is good news for we Democrats.

Corina, Corina

We've known for sometime that Dubya is not too bright.  However, some of us still give Laura the benefit of the doubt.  You'll see why this is my first paragraph later on.

I live in New Orleans.  I just got back from driving around Lakeview today.  There are still blocks and blocks of empty houses giving Lakeview the eerie feeling of what an American suburb might look like a year after it was hit by an atomic bomb.

What truly amazed and inspired me are the people who are rebuilding their homes.  I mean, it's not like they are just building the same old same old.  The houses we saw were beautiful.  Bigger.  Better.  Environmentally improved!  What a testament to the grit and determination of New Orleanians.

More after the flip.  You won't want to miss this.

Princeton Kids Do Good Work

Thu Apr 20, 2006 at 10:23:21 AM PDT

It was just a year ago that we at the Democracy Cell Project (http://www.democracycellproject.net) noticed a group of Princeton students standing up for democracy, as they Fristibustered the filibuster, in front of the Frist Center.  After they came down to Washington DC to continue their stand, we were privileged to provide hummus and babaganoush, and to hear their stories.

We've kept up with these remarkable young people as they have continued to find just the right responses to issues of concern.  Here is a worthy cause for all of us to work on:

How Much Wood Could A Woodchuck Chuck?

Mon Apr 03, 2006 at 09:45:20 AM PDT

I would like to find someone with the financial expertise to figure out how much money has been transferred from present and future federal taxpayers to various well connected Bush corporate cronies since his initial appointment as Warrior King by the Jesters of the Supreme Court
If we take the all the related costs of the war on terror and the war in Iraq added to all the various homeland security boondoggles, and throw in the zillions in bribes paid to the Coalition of the Willing and Well Paid, not forgetting the hundreds of knapsacks and pickup trucks filled with bales of hundred dollar bills carried across the borders by special forces and CIA operatives and remember to add the costs of not rebuilding Iraq and Afghanistan and the enormous damage done to our economy by the leadership of this current gang of Criminals in Office (CIOs) would we have a number larger or smaller than Bush’s lying mouth?

I’m just asking.
