It seems the voter ID system for Denver isn't the only system that Denver forgot to test. Server crashes are commonplace in Colorado - this time really was huge problem.

OK, I have to admit. I am catching a little baseball fever now that the Rockies are in the playoffs. I haven't been a big baseball fan since moving from Southern California and watching the Dodgers growing up. But, hey, the Rockies were founded one year after I arrived in the Rockey Mountains, so in a sense, they are more 'my team' than the Broncos. I liked Don Baylor way more than I like Clint Hurdle - so I really haven't been following them. I also abandoned the Dodgers during they time they were owned by Murdoc.
However, today I decided to click on espn.com and bring up the cool little 'gamecast' so I can keep track of the game while working on the computer. The front-page article was about the success of wildcard teams in the playoffs. Please join me after the break for a key graf, right at the top of the article.
R.I.P. Sagebrush Rebellion
Sun Nov 12, 2006 at 03:30:35 PM PDT
Part of the wave that swept Reagan into the White House, and a GOP majority into the Senate in 1980, was the so-called "Sagebrush Rebellion," a movement in the interior West that was strongly opposed to governmental restrictions on the use of Federal lands, which comprise a significant portion of the land in every Rocky Mountain state.
The so-called rebellion was fueled by the usual combination of corporations and rich individuals that wanted to exploit those lands for profit, but of course it was sold as a libertarian/states-rights struggle of the Little Guy against the Big Bad Federal Government. Plenty of voters swallowed what they were peddling, so the Dems lost Senate seats that year in Idaho, Alaska, Washington, and South Dakota, among others.
As a result of Tuesday's elections, I think we can finally declare an end to that movement. After years of barely showing up in the Rockies, we've proved we've got game in that part of the country. The Sagebrush Rebellion is over.
Separation of Church and Sport (where is it? Not in Baseball)

what the HELL (no pun intended) is going on here?
I'm all for respecting whatever religion someone worships, but it is not the time or the place to state that "God has had a hand" in your team winning baseball games? baseball games?
it's a sport! Plus we know from Bruce Amighy that God is a Yankees fan (if you remember a few weeks back they came back from being something like 12 runs down to win -- that's divine intervention if there ever was..)
Yes, there was a previous post here:

But i'm just putting in my two cents with some additional ideas about sport in general in this country since this was updated on alternet. (and funny enough, the rockies have lost 6 games in a row since the initial article came out -- God's work?)
