Let's Send 620,000 Anti-Fox News Petitions to Fox Sponsors!

Thu Jul 24, 2008 at 07:18:10 AM PDT

I have an idea for taking on the language of racial innuendo on Fox News that I'm hoping many of you can get behind.

Last night, I was reading a thread, Fox News: Racism Is Their Marketing Plan. UPDATED w/Colbert Video, on the 620,000 petitions--collected by MoveOn and Color of Change—that had been delivered to Fox News asking them to rein in their racial innuendo / hate speech. Fox refused these petitions, which were presented later that night by the rapper Nas on the Colbert Report.

I got the idea, prompted by a comment KingOneEye, the thread's diarist, that copies of these petitions should next be submitted to Fox's principle sponsors, such as Toyota. Sponsors might get seriously queasy if they are called on Fox New's frequently revolting and incendiary racist propaganda.

The Demise of Inquiry

What to do, what to do? As everything seems to be im and ex ploding at the same time, the political rhetoric never seems to waver, staunch to the end the practitioners of the Sweet Science of political bruising never give up and never quit.

Please Help With Colmes Makeover

Sun Jul 20, 2008 at 06:47:25 AM PDT

Okay, it's time for the Straight Talk Express to make a stop at Liberal Land, AKA Alan Colmes City.  Mr. Colmes, sir, it is your duty to seek an extreme makeover (pundit edition, airing on Lifetime this fall), and I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to call on NetRoots Nation to make a donation to your image -- all in the service of ensuring that the left is perceived as strong and resolute.

Now, don't get me wrong, we're all happy as hell that you gave up stand-up comedy and became a talking head.  But the danger of playing second fiddle to Sean Hannity is that you wind up as a kind of political straight man, serving up liberal tidbits that Hannity terminators his way past -- with the help of the producer controlling the cameras.

Breaking: Sean Hannity's Challenge To Barack Obama

Thu Jul 17, 2008 at 06:19:03 PM PDT

I know that this may seem a bit "lame" to some, a bit silly or even pointless to others - but I think that this should be addressed.

Sean Hannity ( just moments ago ) challenge Barack Obama to not only come on Hannity and Colmes, but offered the co-hosting spot to him.  He also offered the entire 3 hours of his radio program, as well as the full hour of Hannity's America.

What Jesse really Said About "F*ckin Nig*er?" Obama with Poll

Sun Jul 13, 2008 at 06:56:16 PM PDT

Jesse Jackson called Obama a

"Ni**er and a half breed" & F*ckin half breed Ni**er

(amongst other terrible things) on Fox TV last week, according to James Mtume, co-host (along with fellow co-host Bob Slade, Judge Bob Pickett, and guest Felipe Luciano) of the Open Line Show on WRKS, KISS FM in NYC, at 10:20am Sunday morning.

Yes! That's what he reported!

Now for those who don't know. OPEN LINE, is a highly rated Sun morning Community/black affairs show. All the big politicians (including our Mayor, Michael Bloomberg, but not Hillary Clinton, go figure), media personalities, progressive blacks/Latinos and activist appear on this dynamic show.

As you can imagine, this top rated shows host are totally in tune with the black community, its activist, entertainers, politicians and various personalities, in the nations largest media market. They've interviewed all of them, and they in return, seek to be on the show, when anyone of them wamts to speak directly to the black community in NY. If anybody has that contact, they would!

Soldier RIPS into Main Stream Media from Iraq!!!!

Sat Jul 12, 2008 at 08:42:10 PM PDT

As I sit here in Iraq I find that I have become totally disgusted with the media as well as many of our elected officials. Of course there are rules that we as soldiers are supposed to follow pertaining to speaking out against the actions of elected officials......but enough is enough!!!!!!!

Poll

Is the way that Main Stream Media Fox, CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS etc.. is covering this presidential election a disgrace to soldiers past and presence who have fought and died while protecting rights such as the Freedom of Speech/Press?

Colmes, Hannity and Elitism

Sat Jul 12, 2008 at 02:42:17 PM PDT

As Fox News's liberal voice, Alan Colmes has taken a lot of abuse from liberals over the years for being a pushover for his partner/adversary in their prime-time "debate" show, Sean Hannity.

But just by stating his positions and maintaining his good cheer against the unprovoked insults and contempt that is directed at him, Colmes often succeeds in exposing Hannity for the classless bully--and elitist that he is.

3 Informed Callers Kicked Handy Hannity's Ass

Wed Jul 09, 2008 at 04:56:12 AM PDT

I'm writing this from memory from my car ride home this afternoon but during the last half of the 5 o'clock hour, 3 callers got through to Handy Hannity's radio show and absolutely kicked his right wing ass despite Hannity talking over them, eventually cutting the mikes, and calling people names after he hung up on them.  It shows once again that Handy Hannity, when faced with someone who knows how to debate, has to run and hide.  Hannity even ran from a bunch of Republicans in the streets of New Hampshire because he couldn't handle their questions.

Given that Handy Hannity is McCain's surrogate and a deplorable hateful individual, Democrats would be wise to link McCain to the radical Hannity by simply highlighting Hannity's nutcase associations, their quotes, and Hannity's quotes and history itself.

Diary of a Fly on the Wall at a Fox News Meeting

Thu Jul 03, 2008 at 07:09:15 PM PDT

Down in the bowels of Fox News lurks Ambush Central, the sacred room where the real decisions are made. Here the Fox News brain-trusts gather for their regular 5:30 am meeting. Seated at a large oval table are Steve Doocy, Gretchen Carlson, Brian Kilmeade, Fred Barnes, Brit Hume, Mort Kondracke, Mara Liasson, Bill O’Reilly, Alisyn Camerota, Sean Hannity,  Alan Colmes,  Juan Williams,  James P. Pinkerton, Neil Cavuto, Liz Trotta. Hovering over the table are the Ghosts of Joseph McCarthy, Ronald Reagan, George W Bush (brainless), Karl Rove (heartless), Dick Cheney (soulless), Donald Rumsfeld (gutless), and Christmas Past (joyless).  At the head of the table sits Roger Ailes.

What happens when I really AM America

Wed Jul 02, 2008 at 09:16:43 AM PDT

Summary: After a smackdown by Larisa Alexandrovna (Rawstory journalist) of a Jonah Goldberg piece on Obama and patriotism, I did what I usually do to people I disagree with (Mr. Goldberg, in this case)...I analyzed the crap out of him.

What I intend to do in this diary is show you what happens when you do a few word replacements in discussions of "America".  I'll be looking at Mr. Goldberg and Sean Hannity today.

Countdown with Keith Olbermann - June 27, 2008

Fri Jun 27, 2008 at 06:43:37 PM PDT

Congrats to me for getting the date correct tonight! It's been a hell of a week - George Carlin's death, FISA fights, SCOTUS renewing their NRA memberships, etc. I am happy to put this week behind me, and I intend to sleep the sleep of the passed out.

Just a couple of reminders...email Purple Priestess if you want a Friends of Olbermann shirt. I think we just need 1 more person! Also, NBC is running the very first Saturday Night Live tomorrow night which was hosted by Mr. Carlin. Set your favorite recording device because this show will be a keeper!

On to tonight's Countdown diary!

Neocons: Wrong About Everything

Fri Jun 27, 2008 at 03:08:34 PM PDT

Boy, the wingnuts really don't know what to do about this North Korea situation.  It's really a foreign concept based on "diplomacy" and "incentives for compliance" and other fantasyland hippie stuff they must have come up with on the pot-smokers lawn in the Haight-Ashbury.  Real men know that such multilateralism is excessively dangerous and will cause all of us to be blown to bits.

HEWITT: By the way, I -- I'm still trying to find two tickets to the Ohio State-USC game. And none of the USC people will give up their tickets to me. I'd pay fair price. They -- they know Ohio State's gonna slaughter the Trojans. They know that they're gonna slaughter the Trojans, and therefore they do not want me there at the bloodbath, since it's probably the last football game we'll ever get to see before the United States gets blown up by the Islamists under Obama.

Fox Talking Heads Almost Talk About News

Tue Jun 24, 2008 at 05:50:10 PM PDT

Every once in a while, I like to find out what the wingnuts are saying.  I used to put on Limbaugh once in a while if I drove to get lunch, or Hannity on the way home for work now and again.  It helps because I when I engage a wing-nut (aka visit my dad) I know what the arguements will be before he opens his mouth, and I have my answers already worked out.
