"As Running Mate, Biden Offers Foreign Policy Heft but an Insider Image," by John Broder, states "he would bring heft, knowledge and nearly four decades of experience in Washington" if chosen as the vice-presidential nominee.
Sen. Biden flew to Tbilisi, Georgia this weekend, accompanied by Senators Lindsey Graham and Joe Lieberman, to meet with the country's embattled president, Mikheil Saakashvili.
Biden is running for re-election to the U.S. Senate; to learn more about the issues or make a contribution to his campaign, please visit www.JoeBiden.com.
BTW: Sen. Biden was spotted in the Las Vegas airport a few days ago, the same day Sen. Obama had a meeting in Nevada. Is this a clue or just a coincidence?? !!

The Strange Case of Charlie Black's Incredible, Spotty Memory!
Mon Jun 23, 2008 at 06:39:20 PM PDT
Today, the news broke that McCain advisor -- and my former boss Charlie Black -- told Forbes that another terrorist attack would help John McCain. Per Forbes:
McCain adviser Charlie Black told Fortune Magazine that national security events help Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.
"The assassination of Benazir Bhutto in December was an 'unfortunate event,' says Black. 'But his knowledge and ability to talk about it reemphasized that this is the guy who's ready to be Commander-in-Chief. And it helped us.' As would, Black concedes with startling candor after we raise the issue, another terrorist attack on U.S. soil. 'Certainly it would be a big advantage to him,' says Black."
Black's first response? He just didn't remember.

Sen. Barack Obama Taps Foreign Policy Expert Sen. Joe Biden To Aid Campaign
Fri May 30, 2008 at 02:55:51 AM PDT
Washington, DC (May 30): Former presidential candidate and chairman
of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Sen. Joseph Biden (D-DE)
told Washington Times reporters that Sen. Barack Obama
wants him to "play a more prominent" and "deeply involved" role in
his campaign.
Sen. Biden, a superdelegate, has not officially endorsed Obama, but
did say he would be the likely nominee after next week's
primaries. "He has asked me to play a more prominent role, not in an
administration, in the campaign," Biden remarked. "I would be more
available... and I said once he gets the nomination, if he gets the
nomination, then I'll do whatever he wants. I'll do whatever he asks
me to do."
Biden said he'd "work my heart out" for the party and said he made
such a promise to both Mr. Obama and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of
New York.

Menendez: Wolfowitz showed us a chart similar to yours
Wed Apr 09, 2008 at 06:33:11 PM PDT
Yesterday General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker testified before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. The questioning which really got my blood flowing and my fist pumping was that of Senator Menendez. Of the portions I heard, Senator Boxer and Senator Obama stood out, with a nod of the head to Senator Voinovich, a Republican who acknowledged that Senator Obama may well be the next President of the United States. But Menendez went farthest toward exposing the heart of the manipulations and misplaced focus which would make our illegal and unwise intervention in Iraq seem sensible. As a tribute to his performance, I took the trouble of transcribing his entire questioning. For anyone who is interested, the whole transcription is posted at the end of this diary. You can watch Senator Menendez' questioning on c-span starting at around 3:23.
This diary is to highlight the pointed questioning of a Senator representing the kind of sanity we hunger for here on dailyKos.

Hillary's misleading Euro subcommittee slur
Wed Mar 05, 2008 at 04:14:05 PM PDT
In the past week, Hillary has brought a new line of attack against Obama: that he has not used his chairmanship of the European Affairs subcommittee of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations to conduct oversight on Afghanistan.
This charge is very misleading, and deliberately betrays an understanding of how Senate committees work, in several respects.
Why and how we need Joe Biden now (w/poll)
Fri Jan 11, 2008 at 04:15:39 PM PDT
I know he's not in the race for president anymore. As a long time big fan of his I'm happy about that. Joe is the chairperson of the very important Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, one of the most important jobs in the US government, especially now. The Senate of the United States has a special role in foreign policy, approving all treaties and ambassadors, and the Chair of the Committee on Foreign Relations, whether it is occupied by J. William Fulbright or Jesse Helms, has an important voice in foreign policy.
Joe Biden has that voice now. He is the most qualified American, not just the most qualified Democrat, to use it for good. Let's all encourage him to do it. Specific reasons and suggestions are below the fold. More are welcomed in comments.
Let's support Joe Biden! (seriously)
