Texas Congressional Candidates
Wed Jan 23, 2008 at 09:18:18 PM PDT
I've previously posted on the Illinois, Maryland and Ohio Congressional candidates where the filing deadlines have passed. Sorry it took so long to get around to Texas. I hope to post Mississippi in a few days I've left out any comments on the candidates so as not to bias any opinions. I will make some comments in the comments section.
Congressional races state by state: Texas
Tue Jan 01, 2008 at 05:10:51 AM PDT
I am all for running everywhere, and the 50 state strategy.
But neither we nor the Republicans are running everywhere (at least not yet!) In this series, I will look at where we are running and not running; and where the Republicans are running and not running (I am not going to look in detail at where Republicans are not running, as I have no desire to help Republicans, however modestly)
This diary is partly inspired by the great work done by BENAWU, and informed by the great Race Tracker Wiki (links throughout).

Texas Congressional Races: East TX
Tue Oct 02, 2007 at 09:20:54 PM PDT
(cross-posted at Texas Kaos)
After a hiatus that lasted longer than I planned, I'm back at the Texas Congressional Race diary series. I'm doing this as a sort of counter-part to the incredible work BENAWU is doing elsewhere on DKos.
Having covered West, North, and South Texas, it's time to have a look at the Eastern portion of our fair state. I'll be covering CDs 1, 2, 5, 6, 8, and 17, after the fold.
A Congressional Rundown
Sat May 06, 2006 at 07:19:59 PM PDT
Over at MyDD, a
call went out for thoughts on candidates to consider adding to national Netroots Endorsed list. What started as a short comment, turned into a very long and detailed post which I have decided to post here in its entirety. This is about Texas Congresional seats specifically.
So let's talk Congressional seats.
Even though it is 2006, this will only have been the 2nd time that we have used the current map as Texas was victim to the DeLay re-redistricting scheme (the 2000, 2002, and 2004 maps were all different). Since 2004, Bush has become less popular in the state, as has the Republican Governor (drawing 2 independents in the race which may alter some downballot turnout).
We have 32 Congressional seats.
-21 Republican
-11 Democratic (counting Cuellar)
The Generic Congressional Ballot and What It Means, Part 3
Mon Feb 13, 2006 at 08:15:09 AM PDT
I attempted to analyze the generic Congressional Ballot poll from Pew and what it means.
I detailed my methods and covered the Midwest here. The Northeast is here
I focused on the rest of the country today, as in not the Midwest and not the Northeast.
As I said yesterday: I assume the distrct-by-district swings will be the same. This is a perhaps flawed assumption, but it is reliable enough to give us a baseline. If you feel this assumption is flawed to the point that my diary is pointless, feel free NOT to read on.
Again, of course, my methods aren't perfect. The swing will not be the same in each district, the candidates will be different, GOTV ops, and fundraising, as well as the political climate and other district-specific conditions. But it's a start. I haven't figured out to quantatively include those yet.
Results on the flip.
TEXAS NOMS CLOSE SOON COME ON DEMS
Fri Dec 30, 2005 at 06:49:19 PM PDT
Those of us who follow house races are now familiar with this ubiquitous table :
http://www.barrywelsh.org/... as well as his (Barry Welsh and Rex Freedom)'s latest urging - http://www.dailykos.com/story/2005/12/29/155317/00
and RBH's recent story also : http://www.dailykos.com/story/2005/12/22/234343/55
and the various Kos stories and diaries urging Democrats to run in all 435 House districts.
Well on Monday nominations for 2006 elections close in Texas.............
[House 06] GOoPers w/o any Democratic opposition
Fri Nov 25, 2005 at 08:42:53 AM PDT
Edit: I'll try this title for now.
Yet another dry diary from me.
First off, congratulations to the DCCC on the release of the first version of their Candidate Database.
Now, we'll move on to the unopposed districts. There's 98 by my count. A number which is due to decrease dramatically (36 Republicans were not opposed by Democrats in 2004, a year which was much worse for the Democrats)
Anyways, we'll go state by state, and if you have comments, contribute them, if you have rumors of candidates running, contribute them, if you're a guy who wants to run, search for candidate's information from your state.
And now, under the fold, the information!

From the diaries -- kos)
Barry Welsh wrote this diary last night about this very subject. We have yet to field candidates in some 70 districts nationwide.
