EENR for Progress: Corporate Media and the Progressive Movement
Sun Feb 17, 2008 at 05:56:33 PM PDT

"The basis of a strong democracy is a diverse and dynamic media. It's time to take away the corporate media bullhorn and let America's many voices be heard." – John Edwards
The current corporate stranglehold on the media is one of the biggest obstacles to growing a progressive movement in America. The progressive ideals of removing corporate control from our Government and having the people's voices count as much or more than the corporations is impossible when the message is mediated by those corporations themselves.

The Edwards Evening News Roundup debuted on April 4, 2007 and ended the night that John Edwards suspended his campaign, January 30, 2008.
Those of us who worked so hard on EENR for all those months have decided to continue on to work on the issues that John Edwards brought to this campaign: economic justice, poverty in America, addressing global warming with more than the hot air of politicians, universal healthcare, ending the phony GWOT, which John Edwards described as a "bumpersticker" and a "sledgehammer to justify the worst abuses and biggest mistakes of his [Bush's] administration," an end to the war in Iraq, and so many other issues.
We plan to continue this work. Come around after the fold for more.

Did you know that John Edwards is going all the way to the convention. I knew. Apparently, lots of reporters and the mainstream are just finding out. Slow as usual.

Edwards Evening News: The Fight For Justice Continues

I think we all know that tonight the real news is the South Carolina Democratic Primary, but while we await the results, we can hang out here and share other news of the day. Whatever happens tonight, we continue to fight to have the voice of the real change candidate heard over the media brownout and the plastic fantastic celebrity candidates.
At this time, CNN and MSNBC are already calling the SC race for Obama, just a few minutes after the polls closed, but they are saying it's a tight race for second place. 0 precincts are reporting, but this is based on exit polls.
Edwards Evening News Roundup: The Palmetto State Edition
Fri Jan 25, 2008 at 06:37:27 PM PDT

Hi all. TomP here with the Friday night edition of EENR.
We've changed the schedule here a little at EENR. Your regular Friday night anchorwoman, Sarahlane, is moving to Sunday nights and Ellinorianne is moving to Friday nights. I'm filling in tonight because Ellinorianne stepped up last night to fill in. It gets complicated, but the one thing you can know for sure is that EENR will be here every night.
That's what we've been doing since April 4, 2007. (The First EENR) And that's what we plan to do for a long, long time.
I have a lot tonight. First, I have Mr. Red Jet reading the Letter from Mr. Martin Luther King, III to John Edwards to pictures selected by our own Be Inpired and Red Jet. I have John Edwards' new television and radio commercials in South Carolina, the Palmetto State. But there's much, much more. Lots of Edwards news today.
Come around after the fold for Friday night Edwards' fun.

Hi folks. After 9+ months of continuous EENRs, we had a little oopsy tonight in terms of who was authoring this nightly edition. So, I'm tossing up something we can all contribute to.
Edwards Evening News Round Up: The Action Edition
Sun Jan 20, 2008 at 06:31:58 PM PDT

Welcome to the day after and this Sunday's EENR. I want to remind people that even as the media ignores Edwards and the blogosphere is going on about who won Nevada, Clinton or Obama, that Edwards is still working as if he's out ahead of them both.
The only way this continues to happen is our involvement and our action. There are still things we can do and they are so very important for not only talking about why we support Edwards, but how we can support him.
Edwards Evening News RoundUp: the Road Ahead
Sat Jan 19, 2008 at 04:55:50 PM PDT
Current Nevada Democratic Caucus Results
(with 90% counted)
Clinton: 50.77%
Obama: 45.11%
Edwards: 3.77%
Uncommitted: 0.3%
Kucinich: 0.05%
Gravel: 0%
Well Nevada was disappointing!
My assessment, most of those that had a chance to actually hear John Edwards speak, probably Voted for him. (Too bad not many had that chance.)
Despite the weak showing, Edwards may still pick up some Delegates. Areas where he got more than 15%, will mean more "Delegates For Edwards"! (according to Wolf Blitzer)
Here are the latest Nevada results.

Nevada's caucuses are this Saturday morning; South Carolina's primary follows the following Saturday.
We're half-way through the "early states" part of this process with a long way still to go till the convention in August, and I'm sad to say I have only 31 more Thursday EENRs left to write. Who knew when TomP, NCDem Amy and a few stalwart others started this exceptional series that we'd be able to keep it up this long. Who knew we'd be having this much fun!
