"Pro-lifers" attacking Planned Parenthood for... racism

Sat Mar 01, 2008 at 09:39:38 AM PDT

Pro-lifers hate Planned Parenthood.  We know that.  But now they've taken their attacks to a whole new level, with viral videos and such.  Now, there's an ongoing campaign in 2008 to discredit PP as being associated with racists.  This latest onslaught highlights PP founder Margaret Sanger of being in favor of eugenics, which was true, but then tries to equate her views with that of the present-day Planned Parenthood.  Logical fallacy, anyone?  And then there's been "undercover" work done to try and prove that Planned Parenthood in its present state is still secretly racist against black people.

This is their latest attack video they've released.

More deceptions and untruths from their articles and videos below the fold.

Eugenics and Population Size

Sun Jun 24, 2007 at 02:28:31 PM PDT

Political morality has to be derived from scientific analysis of human goals and desires. There is no god to help us with this.

Here is a human problem: there are so many of us that our waste products are destroying the stability of our environment, pointing to the possibility of population crashes in the billion person range.

Everyone dies, usually after less than a hundred years. During that lifetime, I think people should enjoy a moderate homeostasis consistent with individual freedom to choose and act on choices.

Gross eugenics is called birth control. It is resisted by mainly religious interests, who seem to care little about the lives of those in the here and now, preferring (I guess) to concentrate on the location of souls in the future depending on our actions in the present, and birth control being evil and against gods' wills, therefore not acceptable.

Enviro Mentalist Anti-Sex League Pushing Human Depopulation Agenda

Wed May 23, 2007 at 11:12:01 AM PDT

In its preamble, the recently unveiled UN Convention on the Rights of Persons With Disabilities recognizes "the inherent dignity and worth and equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family as the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world."

My favorite Evolution talking points.

I posted this as a comment to another diary but it got buried under 90 comments while I was revising it, so I decided to post an expanded version. Detail after the bump.

Eugenics and Abortion

Fri Apr 20, 2007 at 11:22:35 AM PDT

An Indiana official publicly apologized for the state's role 100 years ago in pioneering state-authorized sterilization of "imbeciles," paupers and others it deemed undesirable. (click paragraph for original article)

Eugenics and therapeutic abortion for birth defects are essentially the same moral issue:

Are humans expert enough at social genetic engineering to replace whatever nature is doing now (which, apparently, no one knows) with their own version of breeding: smaller, smarter, less violent, less prone to cancer, bleeding, heart attacks, obesity.

Hitler's First Eugenics Victims

Tue Apr 03, 2007 at 05:07:08 PM PDT

One of the foundations of Hitler's and the NSDAP's social policies was the concept of racial hygiene. It was based on the ideas of Arthur de Gobineau, a pseudo-science called eugenics (race purity and race-ranking), and social Darwinism. Applied to human beings, "survival of the fittest" was interpreted as requiring racial purity and killing off "life unworthy of life." The first victims were crippled and retarded children on an order signed by Hitler. After a public outcry, Hitler made a show of ending this program, but the killings in fact continued. This deadly program was called T-4 and many of its killers soon moved to death camps.

Gay DNA

Thu Mar 22, 2007 at 10:03:41 AM PDT

Talk about complicated.

The NY Times headline, "Homosexuality May be Based on Biology, Baptist Says," of course made me instantly crazy. Anything a Baptist minister has to say on the subject, much less the Rev. Albert Mohler Jr., president of the nation’s leading Southern Baptist seminary, by definition is certain to be ignorant and biased.

True, there is debate in the scientific community about the possibility that homosexuality is biologically based and therefore is not a choice of life style as virtually all Evangelicals claim. But what’s this about Mohler weighing in on the side of being reasonably open-minded on the subject? What’s going on here?

What a Fool Believes

Fri Mar 16, 2007 at 02:18:29 PM PDT

I’m finding myself slipping into paranoia with little provocation of late, feeling much like the little kid who sees dead people.  I know a lot of highly intelligent, well-educated people, who for some reason are swallowing mass quantities of bovine excrement, licking their chops and telling me I’m a fool for not joining them.

Extract the Mohler

Thu Mar 15, 2007 at 07:53:17 PM PDT

In addition to cementing the fact that Albert Mohler has gone off the rails on the crazy train express, his assertionthat baby’s can be switched from homosexual to heterosexual in vitro, brings up two very interesting questions. First, if homosexuality is genetic, can it be any more immoral than being born black? Also, if we start switching genes in vitro, then who will set the standards by which we are born? The Southern Baptist Seminary, under the leadership of Albert Mohler, seems to think it has all the answers, although I pray to God they don’t get to set the standards.

Homophobic Eugenics for a new Christianist Super Race

Thu Mar 15, 2007 at 04:48:25 PM PDT

You have to look at the Associated Press article by David Crary about Rev. R. Albert Mohler, Jr., president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (Louisville, KY).  The Reverend Mohler wants fetuses experientmented on to see 1) if they are homosexual, and 2) if bioscientists can manipulate these fetuses into being un-homosexual.

Now, when Rev. Mohler says "We should have no more problem with that than treating any medical problem", he wants us to think homosexuality is a medically treatable SICKNESS.  If anybody is "SICK", it is this "Reverend" Mohler-- a fundamentalist Christianist who wants to use science to promote his HOMOPHOBIC RELIGIOUS DOGMA (which is a fiction and has nothing to do with Christianity).

Baptist leader backs pre-natal treatment for homosexuality

Thu Mar 15, 2007 at 09:03:00 AM PDT

Albert Mohler, President Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville Kentucky, has stated that if a biological basis  for homosexuality is found that he fully supports a prenatal test and in-vitro treatment...

Happily - The Coming Eradication of Homosexuality

Wed Mar 14, 2007 at 02:02:17 PM PDT

Happily for some, especially those on the religious right, but terrifyingly for everyone else we may soon witness the genetic genocide of gay men and lesbians.

The dawning of a new age of "genetic selection" is upon us and included in this new age is the very real possibility that tests will soon be available to "detect" a chromosomal marker for homosexuality in-utero, and a "patch" designed to "correct" the condition of the fetus - essentially turning the unborn child straight.

Southern Baptists support eugenics to remove "gay"

Fri Mar 09, 2007 at 02:56:27 PM PDT

This ought to turn the world upside down.  A prominent Southern Baptist leader wants to genetically remove the gayness out of fetuses.

Genetic Cleansing for God

Fri Mar 09, 2007 at 02:17:31 PM PDT

Richard Rothstein at Queer Sighted has a disturbing story on Rev. R. Albert Mohler, president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.

According to Rothstein:

One of the nation's leading Southern Baptists has called for a policy that would support medical treatment, if it were to become available, to change the sexual orientation of a fetus inside its mother's womb from homosexual to heterosexual. This latest assault on our dignity and existence comes from no less a personage than Rev. R. Albert Mohler, the president of the prominent and influential Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary is the flagship school of the Southern Baptist Convention and one of the largest seminaries in the world.

The truth as I see it.

You see, the truth is always as we see it. We see truth filtered through the glass we've erected, that window through which we see the world. It's a glass forged from what we've touched, how we reach into the falling-water curtain that is "reality". We see something happen and we filter that past everything we've previously used to wallpaper and glue the circuits of our reasoning together. If we have any ability at analysis at all,we force our minds to act as a cipher of what we now perceive, a cipher molded of our own experiences; we use anecdotal evidence from others, families, friends, perhaps our philosophical beliefs, our religions, what we read, what we interpret as we read, what we hear, bits and pieces of stories, maybe tales told round the dinner table, sometimes facts and sometimes not facts.  The decisions we make are like beings that we escort out of the differently decorated rooms in our souls.  Different categories or levels of choices we make come from different rooms and how we've chosen to appoint those rooms.

Our Thoughts on "The Ashley Treatment"

Mon Jan 08, 2007 at 05:12:54 PM PDT

In today's news cycle (at least on Google News, which is where I get All My News with the exception of DKos), is the story of "Ashley", a mentally-handicapped nine year old girl whose parents elected to have her subjected to:

  • a total hysterectomy
  • removal of her "breast buds"
  • high estrogen treatment to inhibit her normal growth

VA-2: Thelma Drake's lack of regret for Eugenics

Tue Nov 28, 2006 at 08:47:27 PM PDT

Virginia's legacy of Eugenics is one that it rightfully apologized for back in 2001.

Eugenics in Virginia sterilized 8300 people in 55 years.

But, when it came time for the Virginia General Assembly to Apologize in 2001, the vote was 85-10.

The 10 who refused to apologize:

Richard Black ®, Paul Councill (D), Earl Dickinson (D), Thelma Drake ®, Frank Hargrove ®, Harry Parrish ®, Terrie Suit ®, Robert Tata ®, Leo Wardrup ®, and Tommy Wright ®

The Bush/Hitler Connection.......Genocide/Eugenics

Wed Sep 20, 2006 at 11:42:04 AM PDT

There has been some discussion here about the proven Bush Family involment with Nazi Germany.

Londonyank's Diary Appeasing the Nazis - Bush family history for Kossacks

The Bush family fortune was built on this relationship with the Nazi Party from it's inception in the early1930's , continuing until well after the war into the 1950's.

Why?

Many believe that money was the factor in the Bush/Nazi coalition.  War is profitable afterall.

But what if there was another reason?  A common ideology?  Prescott Bush could have just as easily made his fortune supplying the Allied War Machine with steel and bullets.
