Restore the Free Press with New Efforts
Sun May 04, 2008 at 05:41:42 PM PDT
The past couple of diaries I've done have dealt with some new ideas for addressing the issue of media reform. Media reform is a great effort, and organizations like Free Press and others should be applauded and supported. That's why we are establishing a new News Network, which is meant be a think-tank-engine-organization whose purpose is to raise money for the purpose of creating a people-owned press.
It's a simple idea--and yet it is radical because we are operating inside a profit-driven system, one that resists the very ideals that our democracy is founded on: that of the freedom of speech and freedom of the press. As long as the press is owned by corporate interests, we will not see the kind of change that we need to see in this country. As long as powerful media create and distort issues, truths, and tinker with our national psyche, we will see our freedoms, already dearly threatened, recede even further.
Barack: Tweak the message just a little, please?

There are some groups that lean more toward Hillary but whose minds can still be changed. Why are they resistant to Barack’s message of hope and change? Continued pounding on the "change" message won’t generate a different result with blue collar workers, the over-65 crowd, high school educated, Catholics, or those earning under $50,000. Is there some way to tweak the message to draw them in? I think so.

PFAW - if they get enough reports - will send people. ALso call the hotline corresponding to your candidate. Thanks!
Help! Voting problems in Ohio (UPDATED)
Tue Mar 04, 2008 at 09:26:49 AM PDT
I hate to waste a diary on this, but this is important. The precinct I voted at this morning has apparently shut down, and I can't seem to get in touch with anybody.
Why the left can win.

The left in America is pitiful. Progressives and liberals cannot say, proudly, I am a leftist! Or I am on the centre-left. This is because of a constant demonization by the right-wing and the Republican party. The sad thing is, is that this is expected. And yet for decades we haven't fought back properly.
This is my first diary, so I apologize for any spelling mistakes, or anything glaringly wrong about my writing.
