Fight Against Anti-Gay Ft. Laud. Mayor Produces New Candidate

Mon Sep 24, 2007 at 06:45:48 PM PDT

Many of you know me as part of the gay couple that protested the playing of an anti-gay bible verse over an intercom at the Fort Lauderdale Airport in May.  Subsequently, my partner and I started an organization to fight against hate and discrimination directed at the LGBT community.  The organization is called Fight OUT Loud.  We most recently have been working on the fight against the anti-gay comments of Ft. Lauderdale's mayor.  All of these events have prompted me to run for city commissioner of Oakland Park, a city that is adjacent to Ft. Lauderdale.

Follow Up on Anti-Gay Airport Incident in Fort Lauderdale--New Non-Profit Organization

Tue Jun 19, 2007 at 02:29:59 PM PDT

As many of you might recall, my partner and I were involved in an anti-gay incident at the Fort Lauderdale Airportabout two months ago.  Many of you called local officals and the tourism bureau.  As a result of your help, my partner and I were able to move the police and airport officials to take some action.  Due to the intense media coverage, we received some negative backlash.  Among other things, I have received hate mail sent to my office, and my partner has been spit on and called fag when he has been out in public.  More importantly, however, we have received lots of support and thanks from around the country for pushing the issue and taking a stand.

Anti-gay Incident at Ft. Lauderdale Airport

Wed May 02, 2007 at 11:44:41 AM PDT

I thought I would pass along an incident that occurred at the Fort Lauderdale Airport Tuesday morning.  It is simply amazing considering how gay-friendly this city is and how many gays and lesbians live here.

At approximately 12:45 am, my partner and I were in the baggage claim area in terminal 3.  We had just arrived from Chicago and were waiting for our bags when an announcement came over the intercom.  It was a recorded message and basically said that "a man who lies with another man as he would a woman is subject to death."  We couldn't believe what we heard, and then it came over the intercom again a few minutes later.  We were shaken by the announcement because it specifically said "subject to death".
