Boehner Disagrees With NRCC Chair’s Criticism Of Obama Budget

Think about what's going on here.

It was apparently incredibly simple to get the GOP on board with protecting SS.  We now have some of them screeching to protect SS.

On the other hand, we have Boner saying "Whoa, slow down there buddy!"

Does this seem like a party that can reconcile these two forces? This is  a party already strained and fissuring on a myriad of fronts; equality, immigration, guns and demographics.  And now this.

I fail to see how getting your opponents to loudly and vocally support one of your key positions is a bad thing.

I fail to see how using this wedge to put pressure on already existing fractures is a bad thing.

Obama is not running for anything. He can take the heat.

Can the GOP take the heat? You have a party than ran on attacking SS, privatizing it, claiming it's insolvent, it's unnaffordable and running out of money and  it's necessary to cut it and reform it. They've been doing this for years and years.

Do you think they are capable of stopping on a dime and switching their platform without fallout? Do you think they are competent enough to pull off such a maneuver? Of keeping their coalitions together?

Do you not see a myriad of ways that LOCAL dems running for Congress might capitalize on their sudden change of heart about SS?

"Oh! You agree we should protect SS from cuts! So do I! Glad you've finally come around. Let's do that!"

How many people on this site still think Obama is a naive chump who is in way over his head. Or think he's truly a corporate sell out. Or some other such nonsense.

Or how many apparently think that a politician who is strategizing and jockeying for position and dynamics, in other words, a politician BEING POLITICAL, is engaging in some sort of extra-dimensional chess game. And not any politician, but the President of the most powerful country on earth, arguably the most powerful individual on the planet. So, yeah, we're talking high level politics. The highest in fact.

It's amazing to me that politics is like some alien game on this site. I guess if there is 11th dimensional chess it WOULD be politics. And yet, we see Obama engaged in politics, because, that's what politicians do, and we lose our collective shit.

Guess what? Obama IS ten steps ahead of most people. How the fuck do you think the guy became President? You think he just stepped in it?

If you find him to be inscrutable, as many of you seem to, then perhaps you are not analysing his behavior in the proper frame. Perhaps your not getting his end game. Perhaps he doesn't work on your schedule of instant gratification. Maybe there's longer games and different goals than your considering. Maybe there's another angle.

Or maybe not. I don't really know, but it's possible. Yeah, it's also possible he's a liar and a sellout and real piece of shit. Or maybe he is naive and deluded and obsessed with his White Whale of a Grand Bargain. I dunno, it's possible too. But that just doesn't feel right to me. This guy became the first black President. In this country. I think it doesn't feel right to a lot of you either and that's why what he's doing seems so inscrutable. You don't get it. You don't understand. It seems crazy. Well, maybe you're not looking at it from right direction.

Nahhh, he must be a naive, evil chump who wants to starve grandma. Yeah. That's it. Makes perfect sense.

I must say that I have come to the conclusion that I have had it all wrong about guns.  I have been convinced!  I have come around to the conclusion that not only is gun ownership a RIGHT, but it is in fact a fundamental necessity!

Many people are under the misguided notion that guns are really a serious threat to public health and safety that they need to be regulated as are other public health and safety issues.  But after some serious thought I have come to the conclusion that in fact the guns are not a public health and safety issue, it's the CRIME that is the issue and the guns are actually THE CURE!!

Follow me below for my impeccable, airtight reasoning that I'm sure will convince you that not only should we have the right to bear arms, but in fact, as a matter of public health and safety we should all be required to carry fire arms, and in fact, it's imperative that not only adults carry them, but that we also arm the most vulnerable among us so that they too are well protected against the scourge of the hoardes of violent criminals roving our streets.

In his pajamas muttering to Nixon's portraits about "giving those rotten seniors exactly what they deserve!".

You see it all started many years ago when he was just a wee lad doing community organizing, for very little money, helping the very people he would later come to hate. You know, all these people he thinks are "entitled" to all the shit he did for them, cuz it was really the only place that would hire him. Rotten bastards.

Anyway, it was during this time that he he hatched his nefarious plot! He would use his unfortunate circumstances in being forced to do this community organizing nonsense as cover! Yes! How brilliant! He would pretend to care! That way, when he finally became President, he would be in the perfect position to turn around and knife those fuckers right in the back! Blammo!

Now that I've spelled it out for you so clearly, you can see why it makes perfect sense that Obama spent practically his whole life prior to being President seemingly dedicated to helping the very people he now so obviously WANTS more than anything to fuck over. All the pieces now fit into place, so we can all stop disagreeing about his motives.  As my crystal clear reasoning makes abundantly apparent, Obama is obviously motivated by his nefarious desire to fuck over old people.  There can't possibly be any other motivations for him as is evidenced by the actual policies he has implemented, you know, the policies that in actuality DO fuck over old, you know, those ones.

Anyway, that's not really important, what's important is that we recognize that Obama is motivated by his hatred of all of us and his lust and greed and obsequious desire to cozy up to the corporate oligarchy that hates his guts with a white hot passion that has not been witnessed since the Civil War!

I think that's certainly something we can all agree upon!

Obamacare Effing GOP's Sh*t Up

by Beetwasher

Well now, what do we have here? Yet ANOTHER ugly schism within the GOP ranks and lo behold! The culprit? OBAMACARE!!

Included in this story at TPM is the interesting tidbits about how the Medicaid expansion in Obamacare is causing quite a stir in states with GOP governors. Seems not only was the the expansion great policy in that it will help a great deal of people, but it was also a ticking political time bomb that is now starting to go kablooie and the shrapnel is flying all over States with GOP governors:

The Awkward Pivot

But look what’s happening down in the states. Republicans are now fighting among themselves over one of the signature initiatives of the dreaded ‘Obamacare’. First, Florida. A few weeks ago, Gov. Rick Scott bucked expectations and decided to accept the Medicaid expansion under Obamacare. Yesterday, his Republican-dominated state House voted to block that decision.

Even more striking is Arizona. Gov. Jan Brewer was another GOP Governor who bucked expectations and decided to opt-in to the Medicaid expansion under Obamacare. Now GOP SuperPACs are battling it out over her decision and, by extension, Obamacare. Americans for Prosperity is running ads attacking Brewer for the decision. And she’s now being defended by another Super PAC, Restoring Arizona, which is encouraging voters to support Brewer’s “fiscally conservative Medicaid plan.”

So take stock of that. Republican Super PACs are now battling it out at the state level over the merits of Obamacare. That’s where we are.

Club For Growth’s ‘’ Escalates GOP Civil War

Conservative advocacy group Club For Growth shows no signs of slowing down its efforts to purge the GOP of alleged moderates, launching a new campaign targeting Republican members of the 113th Congress.

The group’s new site,, is designed “to raise awareness of Republicans In Name Only (RINOs) who are currently serving in safe Republican seats,” according to a press release announcing its debut this week.

“Big government liberals inhabit the Democratic Party, but they are far too common within the Republican Party as well,” Chris Chocola, president of Club For Growth, said in a statement on Wednesday. “The Republicans helped pass billions of dollars in tax increases and they have repeatedly voted against efforts by fiscal conservatives to limit government. will serve as a tool to hold opponents of economic freedom and limited government accountable for their actions.”

The new campaign comes as top Republican strategists, including Karl Rove, are launching their own effort, the Conservative Victory Project, to fund primary candidates they believe have the best shot of winning, citing Senate losses in states like Missouri last year, where Todd Akin’s remarks about rape handed incumbent Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) an easy victory.

World War ZOP

Entertainment, it can be argued, is an expression of the group unconscious bubbling to the surface, like dreams of the individual, except en masse.  jungian archetypes writ large reflecting the fantasies of the underlying group unconscious, it's emotional urges, uspoken desires and fears splashed across our screens.

Mark Kelly Breaks News Of Phoenix Shooting During Senate Gun Hearing (VIDEO)

Won't somebody please think of the poor NRA! Can't a gun lobbyist catch a break anymore?

Sorry it's a short diary, but really, what else is there to say?

More details on shooting:

Shame mockery and ridicule are potent weapons and have their place in society and in the contest of ideas, values and philosophy.  There are certain ideas and concepts, values and philosophies that must be shunned, as must the people and groups that support, promote and espouse them. We as a society, as a culture, as a group identity determine what those things are.   When a contest of ideas and debate of those ideas passes a certain point, where one side is no longer grounded in reality, or is so extreme in its position that meaningful debate is no longer possible, then mockery and ridicule become the most effective method of response.  This is especially true when there is a real, tangible threat being imposed by said ideas.  Those ideas, concepts and values must be shunned, they must be driven into hiding.  Human nature compels those ideas to exist.  Human decency and compassion compels us to shun them.
