I wanted to share with you all a video about a new project I am leading up and give you a first glance at our new website. The video is embedded below:
The strange case of the swooning co-ed
Sun Feb 03, 2008 at 06:49:41 AM PDT
Since it’s impossible to really know in advance how a president will turn out, I’m nowhere near as confident as all the people I keep reading online ("Obama’s a fraud!" "Obama’s going to be the greatest president since Roosevelt.") But we all have to vote, and so we sift through what little we know, and try to make sense of it. For me, one odd little incident from the morning of the New Hampshire primary keeps replaying itself in my head.
I’d gone to hear Barack Obama speak, the first time I’d heard him in person. It was breakfast time, at Dartmouth, and so he wasn’t in full dazzle mode. (In fact, his wife gave a better talk). But at some point in his oration, when he was going pretty strong, a college student down front swooned--fainted dead away.
Obama saw it happen, and he had people clear a space for her so that the EMT could get through with a stretcher. And then, for the ten minutes it took to get her out of there, he did something unusual: nothing.
What Al Gore Really Really Wants
Fri Nov 02, 2007 at 07:51:27 AM PDT
is to defeat global warming. That's why, yesterday, he sent out an email to the millions of people on his list asking them to please turn out tomorrow for the big StepItUp demonstrations. Momentum is growing fast--when he pushed the send button yesterday afternoon we had 59 Senators and Representatives committed to speaking, a number that's now increased to 69. There's a rally near you, easy to find at stepitup07.org
But I have one more request for Kossacks, who are good at this sort of stuff. Please get in touch with your local papers, radio stations, tv, and AP bureaus today to alert them to tomorrow's demonstrations in your neighborhood. A call or email will pay off in big ways!
And thanks so much for all your help with this campaign. We are an exhausted but happy bunch. I'll post links to pictures tomorrow from around the country, so you can see all that you've accomplished.

What If People Power Actually Worked? (with Obama video, and homework)
Tue Oct 30, 2007 at 04:59:01 PM PDT
I’ve spent the last year trying to cure myself of a political cynicism that had sunk too deep, and one of the great inspirations for me has been the steady grinding work of Kossacks actually trying to hold power accountable.
We’re five days out from Saturday’s huge Step It Up demonstrations on climate change, and the work that you and many others have done is paying off in remarkable ways. As of late afternoon, 43 Senators and Congresspeople had agreed to come speak at a rally somewhere on Saturday, or in some cases to send a representative. We’re betting that number will be north of 50 by the time the weekend rolls around, and that’s as many national leaders addressing their constituents about a single topic in a single day in a very long time.
What A Movement Looks Like (w/heartwarming pictures)

Here are some snapshots from the first day of climate action this past April. Perhaps they'll inspire more people to attend Step It Up events on Nov. 3 and invite their politicians, too.
Weird New Tool That Lets You Bug Politicians (about climate change)
Tue Oct 16, 2007 at 10:48:26 AM PDT
After several years of constant lurking, and occasionally writing about Kos in the MSM, and even getting to speak at Yearly Kos, this is my first post. It's because I want to ask folks to take a few minutes to help us with a project and introduce you to a new tool we've developed to make it happen.
