Daily Kos

I work and live in Madison, WI. I got my start in politics following Nader in 2000. I got involved in the anti-war movement on the UW-Madison campus, organizing busses to DC. I volunteered for Dean and worked for the Young Voter Alliance in 2004.

WI Primary: No Error in Obama Lit Updated

Tue Feb 19, 2008 at 02:55:19 PM PDT

Many of you have read This diary on the Rec list about voter registration in WI.

I'm going to make this very quick because its cold here in Madison and I have more canvassing to do.

This Obama Supporter Just Donated To Edwards

Fri Jan 18, 2008 at 10:53:48 AM PDT

I apologize in advance for the short diary.

Let me explain. I still support Obama and plan on voting for him in my home state of Wisconsin. That being said, while I may have taken a different tone in the past, I think it can only be good for the democratic wing of the Democratic party for John Edwards to compete all the way until the convention.

The DLC must be stopped from regaining control of the party apparatus. If Hillary gets the nomination, I will vote, donate, and volunteer for her campaign. I don't have a problem with Hillary, but I have major problems with her supporting cast. Terry McAuliff, Mark Penn, Al From (especially Al From), and the whole bandwagon of corporate apologists.

Corporate power is clearly the log jam of American progress. When John Edwards ran in 2004, he spent a lot of time talking about poverty and the Two Americas. Now he's talking about why there are two Americas.

Its Not Edwards' Love Child, It's Mine

Wed Dec 19, 2007 at 01:45:09 PM PDT

I really need to clear the air here.

Many of you have probably heard the rumors from Drudge, running with the paragon of American journalism known as the National Enquirer.  They are reporting that a former campaign staffer, Rielle Hunter, is six months pregnant with Edwards' child.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

Leadership Poll: Steny Hoyer

Mon Oct 22, 2007 at 12:27:06 PM PDT

Do you approve of the may House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer has been doing his job?

This poll is in response to the leadership polls that Kos posted on the front page.  I think it is crucial that we not allow Steny Hoyer to have his own job performance unevaluated. In the interest of not biasing the poll, I will post my own thoughts in the comments.

(This poll has added 'hell' requested in the front page poll diaries! :)

UPDATE III: Congressional Staffer Snubs Subpoena

Fri Oct 19, 2007 at 10:07:56 AM PDT

According to RollCall, a former staffer for the House Appropriations Committee that worked for then Chairman Jerry Lewis said he intends to defy a federal subpoena he was served today from the US District Court for the Central District in California. You may have read about Lewis' attempts to obstruct investigations into his conduct here, when USA Debra Wong Yang was paid $1.5 million to leave the Justice Dept. and work for the firm defending Lewis.

UPDATE: The staffer's name is Greg Lankler. He worked as an assistant on the Appropriation Defense Subcommittee. Thanks to wanderindiana for the find.

Obama is Cheney's 8th Cousin.... And So Are You!!

Wed Oct 17, 2007 at 11:34:54 AM PDT

Well, we don't have rock solid evidence, but according to trashy romance novel author and geneology hobbyist Lynne Cheney, Barack Obama and Dick Cheney are apparently Eighth Cousins.

From MSNBC:

According to her spokeswoman, Sen. Obama, D-Ill., is a descendent of Mareen Duvall. This French Huguenot’s son married the granddaughter of a Richard Cheney, who arrived in Maryland in the late 1650s from England, said Ginny Justice, a spokeswoman for Lynne Cheney.

At least that what she claims. But is this really that stunning? Follow over the fold for some fun with numbers!

UpUpdated (w/ Poll): Deleted: Why the Dems REALLY voted against MoveOn

Thu Sep 27, 2007 at 02:33:14 PM PDT

OK, I find this a little disturbing. There was a diary on the Rec List for most of the day concerning another Dem Capitulation in their denunciation of the fact-based MoveOn Betray Us ad. It had to do with funding and message control. The diary was well referenced IMHO. Lots of links, it seemed to me the general standard that larger claims be backed with more referenced evidence. Everything I will say about it will have to be from memory, as it was yanked from the TOP of the Rec List.

Update: the diarist notimportant, deleted the diary due to vitriolic discourse in the comments. Damn sad. Please Rec this diary so we can continue the discussion here, if anyone is interested.

Also, does anyone recall why people/which people got upset over a diary?

Just Who the Hell Is Julie Roginsky?

Sat Aug 04, 2007 at 06:47:43 PM PDT

Many of you probably read Vyan's diary about Rachael Maddow and Michelle Malkin posit on the poitical shakeout from the Minneapolis bridge collapse. before I go further, kudos to Maddow, she rocks. So eloquent and totally to the point.

Michelle Malkin and her irresponsible, vicious, and totally predictable position (read: nihilist, self-serving opinion)are not worth my time disecting. But go into the conversation with "democratic strategist" Julie Roginsky and you will find a new muse for your "typical DailyKos hate" (that's read: justified outrage).

I don't know how to post a video link yet, so check out Vyan's diary

Let's waltz together past the jump, shall we?
