The following diaries are examples of this week's Election Diary Rescue. This post features a collection of 49 diaries.

(Var-Sen) WV & OR-Sen: Meet The Two Female GOP Candidates Who Really Don't Support Equal Pay by poopdogcomedy - Republicans Shelley Moore Capito (WV) and Dr. Monica Wehby (OR) seem to be in the dark ages compared to their demorcratic opponents Natalie Tennant (WV) and Jeff Merkley (OR).

(VA-07) David Brat as a "Libertarian Catholic" is an Oxymoron by Frank Cocozzelli - The Tea Partier who defeated Eric Cantor in the Virginia primary is reportedly a convert to Catholicism. Who has apparently not yet encountered the church's social teachings...

(HI-Gov) Historic Upset Ejects Incumbent Hawaii Governor by nicoleweddington - Never before in Hawaiian politics has a Democrat incumbent governor been defeated. Yet this past Saturday, Senate Ways and Means Chair David Ige crushed current Gov. Neil Abercrombie in the gubernatorial primaries.

November: The Democratic Party v The Tea Party by LaFeminista - The immigration debate signaled the final collapse of what was the Republican Party into the fearful hate filled realm of the Tea Party. Democrats can give the people a clear and honest differential and they will vote. Or we can do our usual and follow them ever rightwards and probably lose again.

The following diaries are examples of this week's Election Diary Rescue. This post features a collection of 42 diaries.

(KY-Sen) Awkward: Mitch McConnell's wife is Major (player) in the 'war on coal' by Barbara Morrill - Some awkward reality to juxtapose to McConnell's charges that his Democratic opponent Alison Lundergan Grimes is a foot soldier in the 'war on coal', in that McConnell's wife Elaine Chao, sits on the board of directors of an outfit that has put $50 million into the Sierra Club's Beyond Coal initiative.

(TN-04) TN-04: An embarrassment for the GOP either way by gas28man - The results of the Republican primary in Tennessee's 4th District between Scott Desjarlais (R-Hypocrite) and state senator Jim Tracy are down to the last 90 votes, all provisional. Ironically, the results just might have been much clearer if not for the controversial voter ID law Tracy co-sponsored. Popcorn for all!

(TX-Gov) TX-Gov: First Wendy Davis TV Ad Goes on Offense (video) by nomandates - Democrat Wendy Davis' opponent in the gubernatorial race, Republican Greg Abbott, was once a Texas Supreme Court judge. Who tried in one case to absolve a company from being sued for damages by a woman who was raped by a salesman. Seems he doesn't believe companies should have to do background checks on employees. Abbott lost that ruling to his fellow justices, as pointed out in Davis' first television ad.

Dewey Defeats Truman by Grey Fedora - Some parallels noted between the public backlash against do-nothing Republicans in 1948, and the possible replay in 2014.

(NE-Sen) Here's Your Chance to Help a Guy Who Saved the World by Nancy Meyer - Dave Domina (D) has worked in court to keep the KXL pipeline from going through in Nebraska.  His Koch backed opponent is Ben Sasse (R).

(HI-01) Progressive Primary Strategy 101. Case Study Hawaii. by RL Miller - In Hawaii's deep blue and progressive First Congressional District, they're about to unify behind a DINO-Lite, Mark Takai instead of the viable progressive choice, Stanley Chang. There's also a DINO running, Donna Kim. The diarist examines the positions of the each and makes a convincing case for unifying behind Stanley Chang.

(MD-County) Not Just Whistling 'Dixie': Peroutka Stands Up for Southern Secession - UPDATED X2! by jhutson - Michael Peroutka, the Republican candidate for Anne Arundel County Council, stood up for secession and the white nationalist League of the South, at a hastily called, standing-room-only press conference on July 30 in Glen Burnie, Maryland.

An Unexpected (and Wonderful) Result of the GOP "Lawsuit": Democrats Raise a Cool $7.6 Million by Scientistocrat. GOP boneheaded blunders and nihilistic irresponsibility is being noticed; members of the donor class are speaking with their paychecks.

(MI-Sen) Terri Lynn Land to file amended financial disclosure after "forgetting" a multi-million $$ bank acct by Eclectablog - Republican Terri Lynn Land, formerly Michigan's top official in charge of elections, forgot she had a multi-million dollar bank account when she filled out the mandatory financial disclosure form required of all candidates. But she remembered it long enough to tap it for contributions to her campaign.

(NY-21) NY-21 House Race - Moderate Republican endorses Tea Party candidate. Karl Rove is pleased. by AdirondackForeverWildFollow - The U.S. House seat being vacated by Democrat Bill Owens featured a bitter primary that saw Tea Party fave Elise Stefanik beat moderate Republican Matt Doheny. Doheny has now endorsed Stefanik. The Dem nominee is Aaron Woolf.

(MD-CoCouncil) GOP Leader Questions Candidate About Hate Group That Advocates Death Squads - Updated by jhutson - The head of Maryland's Republican Party has called local candidate for Anne Arundel County Council Michael Peroutka to the woodshed over his involvement with a high profile white nationalist hate group. Scary stuff.

The following diaries are examples of this week's Election Diary Rescue. This post features a collection of 47 diaries.

(NH-Sen) SHHHH Scott Brown, the trick is NOT to remind them you're a carpet bagger by Clytemnestra - After being spurned by Massachusetts voters, Scott Brown packed up and moved to his summer house in New Hampshire and decided to challenge Jeanne Shaheen (D) so he can go back to the Senate. He'd have a better chance (maybe) if he didn't keep reminding New Hampshire's voters than he's not from there.

(AZ-01) Arizona Tea Party Candidate makes a Fool of Himself by Just Bob - Tea Party candidate for Arizona's 1st congressional district broke off an interview during an anti-immigration protest in order to block a bus full of immigrant children... only the bus full of children turned out to be from the local YMCA. The children were laughing and taking pictures of the dolts.

(MN-HD48B) Minnesota Tea Party Republican Channels The Ghost Of Joe McCarthy by TwoPuttTommy - Shiela Kihne, Republican candidate for state legislature didn't know the WayBack Machine means one's blog thoughts never really disappear from cyberspace. See some of her bizarre thoughts and ideas here.

Registered Voters Want Candidates Supporting Reducing Global Warming, Some Favor Civil Disobedience by Patriot Daily News Clearinghouse - A recent national survey of registered voters demonstrates support for candidates who want to address global warming. Many Americans are so committed that they favor engaging in political actions in addition to voting. Details here.

The following diaries are examples of this week's Election Diary Rescue. This post features a collection of 28 diaries.

(KS-Sen) KS Sen Forgets where his kids went to school, Tea Party & Supporters Pounce by tmservo433 - Republican Senator Pat Roberts joked that he came back to Kansas 'when he had an opponent', then pointed out that his kids went to school in Kansas... for all of three months before finishing high school in a D.C. suburb. The Teabaggers are of course using his gaffs to their advantage.

(IN-02) IN-02: Let's put this race on the radar by Laurel in CA - Indiana's congressional delegation is mostly bright red. This year, Democrats may have a chance to capture the 2nd District House seat. Better yet, the Democratic candidate, Joe Bock, seems to be a genuine progressive.

(WI-Referendum) Should Counties Put a BadgerCare Expansion Question on the Fall Ballot? by WI Budget Project - At least 11 Wisconsin counties may add an advisory referendum to the November ballot on whether or not BadgerCare should be expanded with federal funding. Here's a look at the considerations involved.

Why is Automatic Voter Registration--such an elusive Concept by Jamess - A diary that discusses the "profoundly powerful" idea of passing laws to automatically register everyone who gets a drivers license or a state ID; passing pre-registration laws like the one that the GOP repealed in North Carolina; passing online voter registration and same day registration. Oregon made moves in that direction in 2013. It's time for other blue states to step up.

Is it possible to turn Congress Democratic? by judiadg - The diarist asks the question "Has anyone who organizes the Democratic GOTV effort considered what would happen if they really used he message of what happened with Thad Cochran in every state?  Could this turn the house Democratic?" Lots of impassioned discussion in the comments.

The following diaries are examples of this week's Election Diary Rescue. This post features a collection of 42 diaries.

(MS-Sen) Tea Party & Chris McDaniel: How Dare Black Voters Decide an Election! by TeamSarah4Choice - We don't actually know if black voters decided the GOP primary runoff between Thad Cochran and Chris McDaniel, but never mind that. If facts get in the way of the Tea Party's insanity, the Tea Partiers are not averse to simply ignoring facts. Like the fact that it's not illegal, even in Mississippi, for black people to vote.

(CA-21) CA-21: A Juicy Plum Within Reach in California's Central Valley by LeftOfYou - California's 21st Congressional District offers Democrats low hanging fruit, ready to be picked in November. In 2012, the voters in that district reelected President Obama by a margin of 11.1 percent at the same time that the same voters sent freshman Republican, David Valadao, to Congress. This post is the second in a series for the group, Low Hanging Fruit in the House - 2014.

(TX-Gov) How 'The People's Filibuster' Changed Texas Politics by TexasLeftist - The turning point for Texas politics was when State Senator Wendy Davis stood on the floor of the Senate for 11 hours in opposition to severely limit access to women's healthcare. Now that she's running for Governor against Rick Perry, she has distanced herself. Diarist urges she embrace the 'people power' she aroused so successfully last year to turn Texas state offices blue.

New Daily Kos Elections interactive legislative maps for Illinois and Oklahoma by Stephen Wolf - In an ongoing series, the diarist gives us interactive state legislative district maps for Illinois and Oklahoma, utilizing the presidential election results by district calculated by the team at Daily Kos Elections. Each legislative chamber is mapped out and color-coded according to the presidential winner and the party that holds each district, along with some info on each legislator. In the diary you can find links to all the previously released maps.

The following diaries are examples of this week's Election Diary Rescue. This post features a collection of 37 diaries.

(SC-Sen) Another Jay Stamper Stumper by regroce - Talk about head-scratchin’ mystery. After his prankster status gets called out, suddenly Senate candidate Jay Stamper has surged in Facebook popularity, with his “Jay Stamper for Senate” page growing from about 3,000 “likes” to over 10,000 in just the last week of May.

(WA-08) WA-08: Progressive Democrat Jason Ritchie is ready to turn this purple district BLUE! by ParkRanger - Democrat Jason Ritchie would be a massive progressive improvement over five-term congressman David Reichert (R). Pres. Obama won this district in both 2008 and 2012.

(CA-Superintendent of Public Instruction)  My own little election flyer: please don't vote for Marshall Tuck by Cassiodorus - One individual who appears to have made his way into each and every one of these "Democratic voter guides" is Marshall Tuck, candidate for Superintendent of Public Instruction. Diane Ravitch and the diarist, along with commenters disagree with those guides. Diary comments seem important for Democratic voters in California.

Thanks to new voter ID law, 93-year-old voter turned away in Alabama by Jen Hayden - Alabama's new voter ID law is already making voting difficult. The Brennan Center for Justice estimates that eleven percent of the population does not have a "valid" ID.

(GA-Sen) GA-Sen: It's Time for Michelle Nunn to Microwave the GOP Senate Primary by LeftOfYou - The New York Times says that Michelle Nunn (D) has only a narrow path to victory in November, if any. I say that with the right opponent, the road to Michelle Nunn's election, and holding on to the Democratic Senate majority, could become a six lane freeway. Diarist talks strategy. Links to Ms. Nunn's campaign included.

(CA-33) LA Kossacks rock! Next - Saturday Sandra Fluke and Matt Miller (videos of last meeting) by Shockwave. Shockwave is busy combining LA Kossack meetups with candidate forums. This diary reviews the last one featuring Alan Grayson, Betsey Butler and Marianne Williamson, the latter of which is running to replace Henry Waxman in CA-33. Upcoming: Matt Miller, also running in CA-33, and Sandra Fluke, candidate for California State Senate.

(TX-Gov & LtGov) Texas GOP: No Blow is Too Low. Bring on the Boats, Hoes and Abortion Barbie by Libby Shaw - Diarist looks at the sleaziness of the Texas GOP. Links to help the Texas Democratic Party, Battleground Texas, Wendy Davis who is running for governor and Leticia Van de Putte, running for Lieutenant Governor, included in the diary.

The Obvious Reason Tea Party Candidates are Losing to Similar Establishment Republicans by bluto211 – The diarist posits that because so called mainstream, aka “respectable” Republican candidates have moved to the right on a number of issues, it is becoming harder for Tea Party candidates to prevail in primaries. The Texas primary is this Tuesday and is portrayed as a Tea Party last stand.
