From a CBS morning show interview with GOP/Fox Word-King Luntz where he ends up giving them the new magic WORDS. Clips from one of those focus group interviews by (Fox "News"/Entertainment Republican) Frank Luntz with a raft (yeah, literally that's how they feel, poor dears!) of Republicans --trying valiantly to keep their heads above water in this horribly scary Obama-led country that is just lost, lost I tell you, on the way to perdition or whatever. Common sentiment amongst them, not precise quotes but the gist*: We thought we were going to take back our country. Now we're still on this terrible path, this road to ruin, to hell. Oh, my, the sky is falling and it's so so incredibly sad!

One said:  "There are people out there who think they don't have to work."

Frank:   "I've never seen a group so (discouraged, so lost, so fearful)...."

Gail King:    "So, what's your advice to the Republicans, Frank?"

Frank:   "First. Take a vacation....."

Gail:     "Okay, Frank, (we'll have to end it there, yada...) thanks!
            Enjoy your vacation."

Frank:   "Oh! I'm not taking a vacation. It's the Republicans who
            need a vacation."

Pundits have been asserting that Obama's speeches have lacked vision this time around. His speeches have been missing something they say, and maybe it's a fair criticism, perhaps because we've been weaned on the president's great oratory, often called "soaring," or inspirational. Today the president's Wisconsin speech soared.

It was WHAT he said, not how he said it, though it was heartfelt, serious, and direct. I don't know about you but I loved hearing he was going to be my champion in Washington! Listen to this, the most beautiful and inspiring part to me:

All those kids in inner cities and small farm towns, in the valleys of Ohio or rolling Virginia hills or right here in Green Bay; kids dreaming of becoming scientists or doctors, engineers or entrepreneurs, diplomats or even a president –- they need a champion in Washington. They need a champion.  They need a champion because the future will never have as many lobbyists as the past, but it’s the dreams of those children that will be our saving grace.
Obama framed all this with examples of real working and aspiring middle class people and their situations.

Follow below the orange hope for more.

ah..hem.... Thank you, Mitt Romney. Gasp. Thank you Paul Ryan. Until you stopped my Medicaid and I had to get along without my medications, I never knew what it was like to be gloriously, completely on my own, with no help! I didn't know how wonderful it would feel, gasp, choke, to have full responsibility for myself. Gasp. To stand on my own feet, as I heard one Republican put it recently. Except I can't stand anymore, I'm on the floor because I can't... cough.... reach the phone. Actually, I can't move. I'm recording this on the little recorder I had within reach. I hope that when they find my body eventually, someone can write my words out.... and let you know how much I appreciate your hastening my death with dignity as I lie here dying on my own.

I am so grateful to you for this chance to experience responsibility and caring for myself as I lay dying, here on the, cough (oh that dust!), floor. Who could have known your election would be so good for me.

Until you took office, and implemented your plans (which I used to call "Draconian" --but that was before I could see things clearly) I had no idea I was not being responsible for myself.

Democratic pollster Stan Greenberg did polling and focus groups and found that unmarried women were favorable to Romney because they perceived Romney's five point plan to do that, after an empathic set-up! Sheesh, I know. But Romney did talk about the struggles of people.

The set up is important, says Greenberg, to catch our attention and help the audience focus on what he's going to say he will do for them. Obama did not engage these women, and clearly message them with his plan to help them.

In his research Greenberg found that the women DID NOT HEAR OBAMA telling them how he'd improve their lives! Right. "Did not hear" him deliver this message.

By contrast, they did hear Romney telling them he’d improve their lives.
Greenberg says he knows the path to victory:
the research also indicates a clear route to winning reelection... however.
Greg Sargent: Dem pollster delivers wake-up call to Obama

But he has to connect all that with the 47% comments.

"On the dole." Yeah. What a worthless taker I am, I should just die. Wow. Haven't heard such insulting language for years. Leave it to Romney, Ryan and billionaires like Leon Cooperman to resurrect the pejorative term, "dole." They say that 47%, or 30% or 40-50% of Americans WANT to "live on the dole," as "takers." "Slackers" and good-for-nothing moochers who want to live off the 1%. That's what they think!

Keep in mind that Romney said last week that his "Big Idea" was "Freedom." I get it now! He wants to give us moochers the "Freedom" to die!

I think I'm freekin' sick of their lies, slurs and character assassinations!! I'm on Social Security of $768/month. Yes, now old and newly poor. Worked, have a good degree, taught, even started a business that employed several people and exists 14 years later! No slacker. But now am poor due to health problems in my 50's, unable to work, lived off pension fund. Medicaid helps when Medicare is not enough, and Food Stamps stretch my meager income.

What else should I do, Mitt, Paul? Die?

Do they really have a fundamental misunderstanding of Americans who receive government money? It would be astounding, if so, since one is an ex-governor, another a U.S. Representative and the other a billionaire. They are all heartless idiots, that is certain. Idiots because the kind of America their policies would create would be a mere shell of the America we have today. More on that below.

And they want to fundamentally change America--so they can have more millions or billions even if they destroy the country doing so.

Let's be sure they do understand:

~  MOST people getting government checks, or aid,
work or have worked all their lives!
~  If not seniors on SS, they Work, or WANT to Work
~  Or they cannot work due to age, disability, childcare costs
~  Or simply are unable to any FIND work
~  Or their full-time jobs pay so poorly that it is
             not enough to sustain life!
~  And even I, sponge that I am, pay taxes, on my old, old car,
on non-food items, and others pay many other types of taxes

Government checks go to elderly on SS and Medicare, poor and disabled on Medicaid, to Veterans, Food Stamps to working hungry families!

Oh, the Right/Republicans/Romney/Ryan and 1%-ers do understand. They just hate it. They may not know the facts. (Still, they spread this misinformation in typical Republican fashion.) We do know they DO NOT CARE! They said so!

Like Romney tonight, they (Republicans) will all say anything, they LIE. Anything for public consumption, anything at all to win election. How many lies will Romney make tonight --to get elected and to please those who bought him?

Because by winning the election they will please the 1%, of whom they are part, and they will be able to carry out the 1% agenda which has been clearly spelled out. No amount of lying from podiums, in stump speeches or interviews or mailed propaganda will change the true plans of these plutocrats who seek to run the government their way entirely.

Which they have "inartfully" revealed. Look below at what they are planning.

Wow, because I used to read this guy and complain in comments that he was too favorable to corporate, financial and business interests, that he couldn't see the trees for the forest. Now this Pulitzer Prize winner comes out with this: Manifesto for Job Creators  I owe the Post's Steven Pearlstein an apology. Bravo Mr. Pearlstein!

First, his "Manifesto" and then my comments.

This is a for all those PE Bain type guys, the CEOs, business owner, self-proclaimed Job Creator Gods.

I am the misunderstood superhero of American capitalism, single-handedly creating wealth and prosperity despite all the obstacles put in my way by employees, government and the media.

And because I am an American Job Creator:

I am entitled to all the rights and privileges of running an American company, but owe no loyalty to American workers or taxpayers.

Nathan Sproul sprouts the angel wings Romney loves. See, Satan -- Beelzebub -- was an angel tossed from heaven. Voter Registration Fraud managed by the nefarious Sproul who assisted GWB, paid for by the GOP/Romney forces, the latest of three-pronged strategy to become public.

Why implicate Rove and Romney?

Romney work by Sproul.
Sproul was hired by the Romney campaign for a period of five months that began last November and ended in March. But now there’s evidence that the payments continued, only to a different name.
The firm is not only tied to the Florida GOP, but also to the Mitt Romney Campaign, which hired Sproul as a political consultant late last year, despite years of fraud allegations against his organizations in multiple states.
Romney hires Sproul.
Late last year, Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign began paying Nathan Sproul, a political consultant with a long history of destroying Democratic voter registration forms and manipulating ballot initiatives. Sproul, who changed his firm’s name from Sproul and Associates to Lincoln Strategies, has received over $70,000 from Romney’s campaign.  ....if his previous work is any guide, his firm may have an impact on key swing states. ~ June 6, 2012
1. Voter Registration Fraud in several states where Sproul minions purport to register Republicans but switch forms from Democrat or Independent to Republican or change address to industrial addresses, or make the voter "dead." It's so easy when you're a devil, excuse me, angel.

2. Voter Suppression laws, GOP/Romney massive attempt in about half the states  to deny Democrats their sacred, Constitutional right to vote.

3. Polls are ALL Wrong. Says Fox/GOP News: Romney is not losing, he is even with the president, knowing it's going to be hard to explain if Romney wins..

4. Pulling the Romney Rabbit from the Hat:  Come election day they will by any means necessary claim victory. Hell. They are already holding "Victory rallies."

I'm sorry if this argument seems simplistic. It is. But it's essential and is being ignored. Here's the logic:

Egyptian Embassy statement was against hate speech.

Egyptian Embassy was criticizing what certain people had "said" and shown in a movie they made. Because it was against another religion, and it hurt people who believe totally in that religion.

Yet. Romney comes out attacking them.

And. Romney says Obama is attacking "our values."

He means that the Egyptian Embassy attacked our values and Obama caused that, or is responsible for that.

Is he saying no one should criticize hate speech? There can be no "abuse" of it?

That because we love and allow free speech we cannot criticize hate speech? We cannot express our opinion about some particular speech?

Is he saying that he tolerates hate speech to such an extent that he would never speak out against that hate no matter if it stirs up violence and even wars, for instance?

Shockwaves. Fear. Banks failing. Stunning stock market plunges. Massive firings. Lost pension funds. September 2008 should live in infamy but Republicans want us to forget where they led the country. Remember all that? Sure you do! Where would it all lead? How could we survive it all? How bad was it going to be? Would we lose the money in our bank accounts? Would I lose my job today or tomorrow? Would we EVER recover?

At his home... Edward Yardeni... investment strategist, received terse e-mail messages from clients and friends. “Is this the end of the world?” one asked. Another sent a simple plea: Stop the world, “I want to get off.”
And really, no one understood how and why it was happening, not even those on Wall Street. We just had a deep feeling of dread.

“It’s not overly dramatic to say that investors are panicking."
“President Obama took office in the midst of the worst recession since the Great Depression. The country had lost nearly 4 million jobs in the six months before he took office...
Losing 8% of our economy every month. (Rep. Van Hollen. D-MD, on msnbc today.) V-shaped trough jobs loss & then jobs gain with Obama.

If you've forgotten or were in a coma, if you've repressed the horrors of '08, or if you were simply uninformed, read on. If you remember, you're dismissed!

Rick Santorum's Republican Convention speech last night was another lie. He claimed that nearly half the population of America was receiving "government assistance," implying 50% were on welfare, on the dole, lying in bed all day doing nothing. Just the line that Mitt Romney and PaulRyan are using against the president in racist ads and blatant lies at the Convention that Obama has "stopped the work requirement" for welfare. Shown to be false by multiple fact checkers, they persist in the lie.

Santorum's 50% includes all types of government assistance including the social security program which is an earned benefit. It includes veteran's education benefits.

CNN concluded, "The verdict:  Misleading." Santorum's 50% includes "most seniors who receive Medicare and Social Security benefits..."

Why.... It's as if Charlton Heston was quoting the figures on how many people are needlessly killed by guns every year just because the guns are there. Romney, as part of his "Convention Reinvention" plan, is saying now with great (false) gusto:  "One in six Americans is now in poverty!"  As if this just happened. Oooh, it's Obama's fault! He implies that the economy is so bad that suddenly one out of six is poor. Dead wrong.

Though poverty did increase following the 2008 Republican Near Depression, economic collapse and great loss of jobs, it always does following a recession as figures below show. Before that, POVERTY INCREASED 2003 - 2008 under George W. BUSH!

POVERTY INCREASED .7% from 2007 to 2008, that's (Mr. Romney, pay attention) before Obama was in office. Earlier, went up .2%, from 2003 to 2004. That's .9% under Bush, when we were not in the worst Recession since the Great Depression! Was that Mr. Obama's fault too? 2008 census... Poverty

Romney and Ryan care nothing about the poor, about suffering people, about the middle class. How can we say this with certainty? Because we know they want to completely shred the safety net which they view as a hammock that allows poor lazy people to get a free ride. Goodbye Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security and huge cuts even to FOOD STAMPS. That is what they have in their well-documented plans.  Well documented. (See Krugman quote below). Today we read FL Republican legislators refused $4.9m in federal funds for children  laird, Florida Blocks Healthy Start.

Lord have mercy before I give those guys a swift kick where it would do the most good. LEAVE THE POOR OUT OF IT, MITT! Just like you always have. Follow me here......

Turner's a passionate progressive who wants to warn people--especially women--about the coming doom if they were to elect Romney/Ryan! Apparently the Arena where she presents her one woman show is in downtown D.C. In “Red Hot Patriot,” by Margaret and Allison Engel, she will play the wonderful Molly Ivins, Texan, columnist we loved.  With her smokey powerful voice Turner will be fighting our cause! An activist, during college she worked at Planned Parenthood and later served on their board.

Thirty years after “Body Heat” and she’s just as seductive, even here in the chilly lofted cafe at Arena Stage , but her lure today is not murderous lust but passion for progressive causes.
Post review
About her voice? The reviewer, Dan Zak, nails it:
The voice could smite a filibuster.

The voice achieves its own quorum.

The voice is in contempt of Congress.

A little taste? See below the squigg.

Molly Ivins would have loved Kathleen Turner playing her!
