Interesting bit in Charles Krauthammer's latest column:

"We've had quite enough dynastic politics over the past decades. (Considering the trouble I have had with Benjamin and William Henry Harrison, I pity the schoolchildren of the future who will have to remember who was who in the Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton presidential alternations from 1989 to 2017.)"

Interesting...Hillary Clinton hasn't even declared for the Presidency yet, but ol' Chuck here already has future generations learning of her administration...for two terms yet!!!

Has he gotten his message from God???

Before we get too gleeful about conservative angst about Miers, we should remember that it's not universal.  Jay Sekulow, chief facist for the American Center For Law And Justice (a right-wing legal group started by Pat "Boom Boom" Robertson) said, in a press release:

 "At a time when the high court is facing some of the most critical issues of the day - including a number of cases dealing directly with abortion and life issues - the person who replaces Justice O'Connor is critical.  Harriet Miers is an excellent choice with an extraordinary record of service in the legal community and is certain to approach her work on the high court with a firm commitment to follow the Constitution and the rule of law.  I have been privileged to work with her in her capacity as White House counsel.  She is bright, thoughtful, and a consummate professional and I enthusiastically endorse her nomination."

The moral bankruptcy of the Bush administration just got more obvious with this latest Time magazine shocker:

"The U.S. Army has launched a criminal investigation into new allegations of serious prisoner abuse in Iraq and Afghanistan made by a decorated former Captain in the Army's 82nd Airborne Division, an Army spokesman has confirmed to TIME. The claims of the Captain, who has not been named, are in part corroborated by statements of two sergeants who served with him in the 82nd Airborne; the allegations form the basis of a report from Human Rights Watch obtained by TIME and due to be released in the next few days ..."

It's getting closer and closer to D- (decision) Day in the US Presidential Race, and now is the time to start planning for the post-election world.  You can bet that there are forces in the republican brown-shirt brigade doing such planning, and now is not the time for us to cede the future to them.  Remember that the vast right-wing conspiracy that dogged President Clinton is still alive and spewing fire, and they are getting ready for any enetuality.  So must we.

Should Kerry win, you can bet that the republican hate-mongers will be ready to tear him down the first chance they get.  They defined Clinton a couple of months after he was inagurated, and their hateful smears clung to him for eight years.  We cannot allow that to happen again.

Should the forces of evil steal the election again, on the other hand, we have to be ready to fight their puppet king with all of the vigor that we've been displaying in the campaign, if not more.  Should the congress stay in the clutches of the Dark Side, then it will only be a vocal and tireless band of citizen activists that can stand between the nation and certain disaster.  And we will have to work fast...the Bush Junta is planning to move swiftly following the elections should they prevail, and they will not give us time to breathe.
