Where have you gone, Mr. Robinson?

Thu Sep 06, 2007 at 06:44:33 AM PDT

So, yesterday afternoon, I am getting ready to run an errand, had MSNBC on in the background as I gather things, and I hear Eugene Robinson's voice.  So I stopped to watch.  OK, so it was on the Tucker Carlson show, and I cannot stand the preppy puke but I do like Mr. Robinson, and the other guest was Ed Schultz. (For the record, Eugene Robinson is one of the few writers at the Washington Post, I still read).

So what angered me?

To find out, go over the fold!

Thank you, Jon Soltz

Not only did this young man serve our country, in uniform, in a war, protecting our rights as citizens, fighting for the constitution he is continuing the battle for all of us.

He is a part of VoteVets and what he does is for all of us, not just vets.

I want to thank him.

Disclaimer: I am not a vet, have never been in uniform, and do not know Jon except when I see him do battle on the tube....and have nothing to do with this organization except for finding it on the net and reading about it

Can someone, maybe a lawyer, explain something.....

Sat Sep 01, 2007 at 12:28:05 PM PDT

I understand that DA Niphong broke the law and his assumption of guilt on those boys was wrong.

I understand also he has lost his right to practice law.

What I don't understand is on the other side.....

Aha! Now I understand Tucker Carlson!

Tue Aug 28, 2007 at 12:28:37 PM PDT

At last I have a clue into Tucker Carlson's anal retentive twerp personally.  The guy was too severely potty trained and oh the problems it has caused!

Today it all came out....

More  snark for understanding over the fold

The Grieving Room: A Journey

Mon Aug 27, 2007 at 02:54:22 PM PDT

Mother, Father, Best Friend, Cousin, Sister

When I think of grieving, I think of these.
My Mom died 36 years ago, yesterday.   Not on August 26th.  Thirty-six years ago on May 21st. But sometimes, even now, it seems like yesterday in terms of the loss.

I learned a lot from that loss about my self.
In fact, after the grief, there is a lot of learning and growing to come....
A thank you in advance to those who can stay through my vociferous diary....

More after the fold....

Who woulda thunk it? A rant in shock and awe mode!

Sat Aug 25, 2007 at 12:08:25 PM PDT

How can a racist, xenophobe, sexist screamer like Pat Buchanan be considered mainstream by his colleagues?

How can anyone consider Chris Matthews even remotely liberal?

How can a major media star, anchorman for NBC, say publicly he respects/likes/admires Rush Limbaugh and still have a job?

How can challenging the status quo get a major media figure fired?  I thought that was their job!!!!!

More of my frustrations over the fold.....

So, $168,000 salary is not enough to live on? Hmmmmmmmm.....

Sat Aug 18, 2007 at 07:39:12 AM PDT

Maybe it's me.

Maybe I am just too ignorant and stupid to understand just how these people get away with this public elitism and then say we, the liberals/progressives, are starting class warfare?

More of my confusion over the fold....

Are progressives here really cowards? Are we afraid to stand up to bullies?

Tue Aug 14, 2007 at 06:52:47 PM PDT

This will be short.
I am becoming quite discouraged here.

I am reading too many diaries that are allowing the bullies (Rove, the Republicans, Bush) to determine what we believe.

A little more over the fold...

Whose head will explode first?

Mon Aug 13, 2007 at 05:27:46 PM PDT

WHEN the dems take back the white house, increase their majority in both houses, whose head will explain first?
Tweety, Russert, Tucker or the boys at Fox?

Seriously, I wonder what is going to happen if the democratic Congress comes up with some regulatory measures for broadcasting, it passes and is not vetoed because King George is gone, and all of a sudden the cash cow for the millionaire pundit class dries up.

Where have all the flowers gone?

Sat Aug 11, 2007 at 07:43:42 AM PDT

So last night I was watching/listening to PBS rerun the Bill Moyers Journal with Fein and the other guy.  After that, as a part of their fund raising week, Rocky Mountain PBS did the rerun of a gathering of folk musicians, the people whose music so influenced me as I was coming of age.

I listened to "Where Have All the Flowers Gone" and was swept back to a time where as a young woman I listened to every word, closed my eyes and felt in sync with the artists.

Now, I sometimes feel so out of step......

Why the FISA vote should not have been a surprise!

Sun Aug 05, 2007 at 09:02:21 AM PDT

Yes, I was upset and disappointed. Even angry!  But surprised?
NO WAY!!

There are several reason why we should not be surprised.
First and foremost, the views on democracy, at best, change slowly.  I think it was meant to be that way.  And after three/four or five decades (depending of a your pov) of a conservative mindset, what did we expect?

more because I am curious as to why some are seemingly shocked by this vote

Want to change the Party? The Congress? Government? Change the people first!

Sat Aug 04, 2007 at 07:49:11 AM PDT

I was very distressed after reading Grannydoc's diary last night.

The Day the Music Died

My gut reaction was like that of many; anger, despair, and a sense of "we have to do something."  This morning, as I get  ready to go to my county's democratic Central Committee Meeting, I stopped to read the thread and I had some thoughts to share.

Media spin, lapdogs, frustration and rambling thoughts

Thu Jun 28, 2007 at 08:10:26 AM PDT

This is NOT about Coutler.
This IS ABOUT THE MEDIA.
This is about the anger and frustration I constantly feel about the lapdog press and their garbage.
This is about their SPIN, their lies.
And about how WE, have to call them on their garbage

MSNBC is worse than FOX and deserves our contempt and should be boycotted

Wed Jun 27, 2007 at 08:03:20 AM PDT

It's not JUST Chris Matthews' total hypocrisy; or Morning Joe's total phony attempt at being "cool";  or Dan Abrams need to prove he can be as obnoxious and controversial as any wingnut while coming off as nothing more than some smartass frat boy who can't grow up.
And as much as I love Keith, honestly, he is simply not enough to give MSNBC a pass for masquerading as a news network or as a network that gives a balanced point of view!

Do neocons even believe in democracy?

Tue Jun 26, 2007 at 01:30:27 PM PDT

Do they even know what it is?
Listening while cleaning house to Tucker and Jonah Goldberg discuss their love and admiration of Dick Cheney, I was stunned.   Here they are both bragging about how cool it is that Cheney does not give a damn about what people think, like that is the greatest tribute, and does what he thinks is moral or right or whatever....

It makes me crazy to even hear this crap.

Chris Matthews, High Anxiety and women

Mon Jun 25, 2007 at 02:50:52 PM PDT

OK, so my favorite obsession as of late, Chris Matthews and his relationship with, to or about women, has reared its ugly head again.

Listening to him drool over having Coulter on,  jump at the chance to trash Hillary while the discussion was mainly about Obama, and then to see him be seemingly unrelentingly negative about Cheeeeeeney....

An answer for Chris Matthews......

Thu Jun 21, 2007 at 03:12:32 PM PDT

Since once again, Mr. Matthews is obsessing on Hillary, this time on the "Why wouldn't she answer my question about Scooter Libby," as well as getting Nader to play "Let's Trash Hillary" with him, I thought I would answer him, since he seems very frustrated.

So keep reading Chris

Matthews taken down by audience

Tue Jun 19, 2007 at 06:30:49 AM PDT

Wow, Matthews vs Hillary....
and Hillary has the crowd with her, so much so that they took Matthews down for his crap.

Matthews asked one of his fluff crap questions...with his smirk.  "Should Scooter Libby be fired?"  (with his usual underlying snicker about Bill's impeachment so obvious to all)!
The audience shouted him down, wanted "REAL QUESTIONS" and Matthews then went at it with the audience while Hillary got to snicker...
