Congrats to a bunch of idiots

by Militarytracy

Don't know how some of you managed to run off some of the best and brightest on here but it certainly looks as though you have accomplished it.  Congrats to those of you who desired our feminists to not let the door hit them in the ass on their way out.

Depressed by Liars

by Militarytracy

Well, yesterday I spent the afternoon with a military social worker doing a family assessment.  My husband was to have returned to Iraq this January for his second tour.  My son had a very serious surgery though in August of 2004.  It is called titanium rib, and it is used in children who have severe scoliosis.  It saved his life.

Are ya kidding me?

by Militarytracy

Leaving Kos getting back to some work at hand and I hit yahoo and come across an article about Gonzales saying that he is unlikely to prosecute deepthroat......link. Who thinks up this crap?  Was anybody really thinking they were going to prosecute him?  Is it just me or does God really need to save me from the MSM insanity?

This is a diary that I have been hanging onto.  I wasn't sure that anybody would feel the same way that I do about this.  I thought perhaps I was being overly "touchy" about training Egyptian pilots in my own country using my military.  An article in the New York Times entitled yesterday `U.S. Has Loosened Rules for Arms Sales, Study Says' by Leslie Wayne has prompted me though to release this diary from Microsoft Word today.  Most importantly because the article talks of our support to Egypt on the large scale that it is and the fact that Egypt is defined by our State Department as undemocratic.

Not really, but the PDF of his testimony did from the website for the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs.  I know you are all gasping; can't imagine how this has happened or why.  Here's the link http://hsgac.senate.gov/index.cfm?Fuseaction=Hearings.Detail&HearingID=232

Totally Bummed about Al Franken

by Militarytracy

I watched Bill Maher last night.  Great panel, but by the time I turned the TV off I was bummed bad!  Al Franken was on the panel and I love Al Franken, always have and always will.  I guess that's why I am so damn bummed at him.  Of course they talked Iraq and whether or not we ought to leave.  Al Franken said that he didn't think we could leave.  I love him but what "we" is he talking about? He isn't in uniform either!  Somehow I can't help but think that if Al was over there dodging bullets with the Marines he would be all for getting the hell out of there too!  I am so tired of people rationalizing this war until it comes down to them making a real sacrifice for it!  Then the room goes silent and people begin to scurry for the exits!  At least Gore Vidal said to get the hell out and get out now!  It was one flame in the darkness for me.  Don't know if I'll get over Al though.

It's Vietnam All Over Again

by Militarytracy

Weekend morning, getting to have some family time.  My husband has been removed from the happenings in Iraq this week, many times I don't even bring up what is happening over there because it always seems to depress him.  This week was such a mess though that I talk about it as we also discuss that he most likely will never be deployable again.

No Wonder

by Militarytracy

I hate this war so much and no wonder I hate what it has done to soldiers.....it did something to mine and I just didn't know it, well I guess my heart did.  My husband is grounded now.  He hasn't been sleeping either and he really hasn't been the same since he came home, obviously he hasn't told me everything that he has been feeling.  They diagnosed him with Generalized Anxiety Disorder.  They didn't even tell him that soldiers are coming back from Iraq with it.  Everyone knows PTSD but I didn't know about Generalized Anxiety Disorder until today and I didn't know soldiers were coming home with it from Iraq until I looked it up on the web tonight.  But they didn't even bother to tell him about the link to combat, how can they do that?

I'm Pissed, My Diary Got Freeped

by Militarytracy

Painted a little last night and then snuggled into bed all safe and warm.  Feeling better about things in general. Wanted to check my diary from yesterday http://www.dailykos.com/story/2005/5/2/142430/5509 because a couple of military wives were on there, wanted to see if anybody else had anything going on and behold......A FUCKING FREEPER!  Never thought it would piss me off this bad!  I'm new so I don't know how to check up on people yet but the only entries for this person began yesterday and they are all nostalgically subtly promilitary.  I don't mind promilitary as long as they are willing to hear the whole truth.  I gotta address this loser though so thank you for your patience everybody!

Update [2005-5-2 15:54:46 by Militarytracy]:I called and told her that her story in my eyes was on Kos She told me she didn't consider herself news worthy, bad things happened to people all the time. She ran out the door to go get her son's medicine.Update [2005-5-2 15:54:46 by Militarytracy]: She was an abused partner, that much was obvious ten minutes into the dinner.  Her son was disabled also and we had met each other dropping our boys off at their headstart class.  The teacher waved her over and told me that she was military too.  It is my world right now and it is different than my old civilian world even though I am still a civilian.  Having a military spouse changes the daily dynamics of the whole family and now we are military.  We are a subset of the set, everywhere I go now I see signs in businesses that read MILITARY WELCOME.  I am labeled, classified, sectioned off and there is an unspoken rule about not opening my mouth about MILITARY STUFF.  She was an ex soldier so she heard that unspoken rule at double the volume.

Behind the Power Curve

by Militarytracy

It  is an aviation term but my husband uses it daily.  Always I hear that I need to do this or I need to do that because he doesn't want me to be behind the Power Curve.

The definition of being behind the Power Curve is: an aviation expression that refers to the point in flight --- usually either coming in for landing or when rapidly slowing down to lose altitude, when the airplanes drag starts to slow it down faster than the engine can recover from quickly. In this case, you can increase the power on the engine, but it will take a while to build up the engine power to again accelerate the airplane. If you have an inconvenient tree in front of you, or a mountain, it is not a very nice position to be in.
The aviation expression has been generalized to refer to situations where you are really behind external circumstances and it will take a lot of catching up to just get even with the outside world.

Burn the Motherfucker Down!

by Militarytracy

This is a diary that I posted on Booman a couple of days ago.  I couldn't post it on Kos until I had worked through some of the pain that lived within these words for me.  People who "Dissent" post on here.....and I am all for it.  These emotions though were very raw for me and I had to find my ground again after putting some of this "out there".  I wanted to be able to deal with people being angry about MY FEELINGS and my Unamerican Unpatriotic Ass.  I have had time to digest some things now with the help of others, so I feel personally safe posting this diary here today.
