So said professional football payer Jon Cornish when he accepted his award last night as the Best Canadian player in the CFL. He wasn't sure his Moms would make it to the ceremony since they started the day in Israel. Margaret Cornish, an Anglican Priest, and her wife Andrea were on vacation when the troubles broke out and were able to make it onto the last possible plane.
“It’s a tremendous thing and I wouldn’t have imagined it any other way,” he said. “They’re the most important people in my life, and having them there made the event that much more special.”

Cornish, a running back for the Calgary Stampeders will be playing in the 100th Grey Cup final this Sunday.
I will be turning 42 on January 20th, 2013 and I'd like the same gift I got 4 years ago if you please! It's been a while since I had something so nice and special. I remember going to bed that night feeling like the world was starting to make sense again.
Unfortunately, I'm Canadian and can really only sit on my butt all day today and hope you guys can deliver. I'm feeling good about my chances though! Please wrap him up in a pretty bow and stick him under my Christmas Tree!
Always important to double check just who and what you are sending out. Think of it as a Sober Second Send.
An email message mistakenly sent to Newt Gingrich's list serve this morning told subscribers that President Obama would no doubt win in 2012 and that they should be more worried about Obama's winning in 2016.
Talk about fear mongering!
Not really a surprise, but you have to love his reasoning :)
This may be one of the biggest endorsements Romney gets.
According to their website, The HMS Bounty sent out a distress call last night at 18:30pm and the crew indicated they were abandoning ship. Reports say they were able to make it to life rafts and choppers were dispatched to pick them up. That's the good news.
The bad news is that the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation is reporting the ship has sunk :(
This story was posted on Facebook by a friend of mine. It's not much more than a link to a blog, but the cover is there as is the original and a quote from the man claiming to be the photographer.
I'd love to actually embed the pictures but I don't know how :( (that is embarassing to say)
EDIT: Thanks Hungrycoyote!!
But the cover they show of the National Review is indeed the cover their website shows for the October 1st issue!
It's early in the morning on the east coast and Mother Jones has released another snippet of the video. This time Romney is answering a question about the Palenstinian and it goes against official Republican policy of wanting "two states"
I've had for some time, which is that the Palestinians have no interest whatsoever in establishing peace, and that the pathway to peace is almost unthinkable to accomplish.
That also goes against some of the statements he has made in public and to the media.
They never LEARN! It wasn't that long ago I was writing about Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart wanting Palin to stop using Baraccuda.
Paul Ryan has pulled the plug on Twisted Sister's 1984 hit We’re Not Gonna Take It after the band's frontman denounced the Republican vice-presidential running mate, who used the song at a Pennsylvania rally.
Dee Snider asked that the rebellious rock anthem be disassociated from the political campaign, saying there is "almost nothing" Ryan stands for that he agrees with.
The campaign has said they will no longe use the song.
Great story on the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) website about an event that happened this past weekend in the city of Trenton, Ontario.
On Friday night, Connor Ferguson, who has been living as a Transgendered woman for 4 years (!!!) attended her Prom. She hadn't planned on going as she feared what people would say and do.
So I went to prom, nervous but still excited. When I arrived I was greeted with hugs and compliments of "you look beautiful!" and "look at those shoes!" The fact that people were recognizing me as a woman and not as a "freak" was just outstanding! Yes, I've been living my life as a woman for upwards of 4 years but I'd never even left the house in heels and a gown before. I had to muster up the confidence and self assurance to leave the house with my head held high.
If you've been following the sanity trial of Anders Behring Breivik in Norway, you have been reading the ramblings of a man man. Someone so focused on hate he doesn't seem to understand acceptance or tolerance.
Recently, in his testimony, he spoke of a song called Children of the Rainbow as being an example of "Marxist influence on Norwegian culture". The song is the Norweigan version of Pete Seeger's My Rainbow Race.
His words lit a spark....
So The Donald has spent a fortune on buying land in Scotland to set up a fancy golf course only to find out the Scottish government wants to build an off shore wind farm nearby.
The Donald is not happy! He took his fight to the Scottish Parliament today.
In a short article, Forbes contributor Josh Barro calls on the National Review to fire John Derbyshire if the magazine is serious about being taken seriously on racial issues, particularly following a piece by Editor Rich Lowry claiming that racial profiling wasn't an issue.
He begins with a bit about the piece itself.
In the wake of the Trayvon Martin’s shooting, many black parents have discussed the advice they give to their male children about not getting themselves shot in a misunderstanding with a white authority figure. Derbyshire’s talk, on the other hand, is about how to avoid being harmed by a black person.
