Rahm's Defunding Decoy

by One Citizen

Did anyone actually take Rahm Emmanuel's amendment to defund the office of Vice President seriously?

Although the media accurately defined the defeat in the House as a narrow margin (209-217), the fact they curiously left out is that there were 24 Democrats who crossed the aisle to help the GOP vote it down!
Curious to see if any were my  state reps, I took the time compile the list of Democrats who apparently believe that Dick Cheney deserves their further support:

A Kool-Aid Addict Intervention

by One Citizen

Don Surber is the staff neocon on the editorial board of one of two competing newspapers printed, sold, and distributed in my hometown of Charleston, WV.

Like countless other rightwing pundits Mr. Surber is fairly clever in the many ways he regularly distorts facts to peddle fiction. But his appeal has dwindled locally to entertaining all but the most delusional and/ or woefully uninformed radical right hardliners. Thus his conservative-leaning newspaper drowns while competitor spparently kicks along quite well.

Daily Mail circulation dropped from 35,076 in February 2004 to 23,985 in January 2005. In that same time, Gazette circulation jumped slightly, peaking at more than 52,000 source

Normally I ignore Surber's radical right revisionist rumination (for obvious reasons). However, because his June 14, 2007 editorial is the classic example of Surberspeak, I've decided to deconstruct his latest line-by-line.

Check out the image of the hard core Karl-Aid addict below while you're at it.

While Neocons mount their media campaign to free Lewis I. "Scooter" Libby, they also face the growing public perception of the two-tiered justice system under Attorney Gerbil Abu Gonzales.

That's why they should immediately send Mr. Libby directly to sunny Club Gitmo where he can enjoy the therapeutic waters,

dine on fabulous gourmet meals and the relax to soothing music
they reportedly pipe into each luxurious suite.
Trained Therapists Awaken Client for Soothing Massage

He can relax there until after the election when it won't politically hurt them.

And just think. As Mr. Libby is already an attorney, he won't need to be bothered with visits from counsel or the media while he files his appeals.

Unconfirmed rumors are circulating that Mary Cheney will celebrate Father's Day by finally acceding to Fundamentalist pressure to marry her baby's daddy.
Although longtime "friend" Heather Poe has been unavailable for comment, Log Cabin Republican leaders are calling the marriage (if true) one of political convenience.

While no rumors regarding any wedding have been confirmed, there is one photo of an amazingly lifelike cake topper depicting the beautiful bride-to-be and her glowing groom.

For some really focused anti-war fun try spinning the following tune in the old karaoke box at Steny Hoyer's next high-powered  military-industrial DLC fundraiser.

Steny and the Feds

Sung to the tune of Benny and the Jets
(with sincere apologies to Sir Elton John and the countless civilian casualties a.k.a "collateral damage" caused by the neocon's so-called "worldwide struggle against terror" in Iraq by our "Democratic" leaders in Congress).

O Rahm O Rahm Emmanuel

by One Citizen

O Rham, O Rham, Emmanuel
Advance the cause of DLC
And military industrial neocons there
'Til another son of Bush appear
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall pimp for thee, O PNAC.

O come, Thou Rod of DLC, free
Thine own from terror's tyranny
From USA Thy people came
To send Iraqis to their grave
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Crusade for thee, O PNAC

O come, Thou profiteer, bring on the fear
To public by Thine advent here
Bring on the gloomy clouds of night
With death's dark shadow broadcast fright.
Rejoice! Rejoice! RahmManuel
Shall kill for thee, O PNAC.

Jay Rockefeller Loves the War

by One Citizen

That's right. I said it. Senator John D. Rockefeller IV (D-WV) LOVES it.

But how can one really know? Like Commander Codpiece he "opted out" of serving in other battlefield action so we can't really base the assessment that he LOVES the war on his past Viet Nam experience, can we?

All one need do is ignore his rhetoric and look at his voting record.

I know, I know, tagging that tired suffix "gate" behind any word to describe a White House scandal is shopworn at best. But the eyeopener is to dare emblazon the shingle "TREASON" squarely in front of it.

While the mainstream media's old rusty "gate" swings all the way back to Nixon (who, by the way, was the first President to receive a blanket pardon

  • before he was prosecuted
  • for obstruction of justice, no less.

By nailing the word TREASON onto it, we will have sufficiently swung it back onto the framework
of the crime currently being prosecuted. And in the bargain we've wedged it tightly shut against the executive pardons we just KNOW are strolling down the line.

But what's in a name, after all? Perhaps no less than blocking yet another round of Bush Administration presidential pardons. By daring to call it treason we may just stop them from compromising future field intelligence by future cadres of profiteering neocons.

But are they covering up for treason?

How can Congress stop the unwarranted escalation of troops in Iraq other than the by the straight-forward cutting of funds for our troops?

And perhaps more importantly, how do we put the skids on the impending threat of yet another unnecessary pre-emptive war in Iran?

Why is it that self-described "economy expert" neocon lackey authors like Thomas Sowell and Irwin Stelzer somehow never get around to addressing the war as a giant drain on America's economy and resources?  Ever?
